First of all - the new version (1.4.1) of this plugin is great - thanks!

Secondly, I am also seeing discrepancies in the number of books in some collections between the calibre report and what is shown on the Kindle.

For instance, I have 18 Calibre generated newsfeeds. They all have the the author automatically set as "calibre" and also a tag as "News" - which is exactly what I require. 15 of the 18 have News as the first tag - whereas 3 have the News tag last in that field. (I suspect this is the cause of this part of the bug)

The plugin report says I have only 15 items in _News and 17 for the the so-called author "calibre" (there should be 19).

However, the Kindle actually shows only 2 items in the "_News" collection and 4 in the "calibre" collection.

If you use Edit Collections - is it clear which ones are missing?

Or if you look at the bottom of the report where it lists each book and if its adding/ignoring the collection is it clearly adding them?

I have just re-run everything (re-booted etc) and this is what I now have :

When looking at "Edit Collections" for "_News" it only shows 10 "included" items. I can see several others that it missed - (e.g Washington Post etc). Calibre itself shows that I have 16 unique feed with the News tag. the Kindle only admits to 1 item in the "_News" collection.

The Kindle also only show 2 items in for the author "calibre".

I post below the relevant parts of the logfile - I am confused when it says
"Not including: Science News Recent Issues (due to include list for column "Tags")"
- I guess I am doing something wrong for this to come up but I cannot see what....

My guess would be the cdetype != PDOC or EBOK is what's messing up things for calibre generated news... AFAIK, calibre *should* correctly set this to PDOC, but I may be wrong. I'll take a look at it.

EDIT: It does, but only when it finds the pdoc tag specified in the mobi output config in the tags of a book when sending it to the Kindle. (On my system, it was set to [PDOC], so my news weren't flagged PDOC either).

Long story short: Set the personnal doc tag to 'News' instead of '[PDOC]' in Pref > Output Options > Mobi output. Every news sent from this point forward should be correctly tagged as cdetype PDOC, and that *should* fix your issue. [Of course, you'll have to resend your back issues to update the metadata in these].

Thanks - I have done what you suggested - I checked meme's logfile and sure enough all the newsfeeds were showing in Kindlecode "^None" except the Chicago Tribune which was set to "^PDOC" - so maybe this will cure this particular issue. I will check once the feeds have been updated tomorrow...

I wonder if these feeds will also now correctly show in the "Author" field for calibre...

@hooby: You can force a re-fetch of a few feeds to test this .

Not sure what you're referring to with the 'Author' field bit... Fetched news show up fine with 'calibre' as Author for me :?

I'll look into this and see if I can duplicate it. In the report details at the bottom is there any book that you expect to be in a collection that is not in a collection? Are there any notes like ignoring/skipping? Although the count of what's on the Kindle and what is shown in the report should match so it looks like I need to recheck the code.

Are you restarting the Kindle?

I just installed the most recent version of the Kindle Collections plugin. When I customize the collections plugin and run the "preview" option, I get the following message:

Kindle Collections plugin:

Run "Customize plugin" to configure which collections to create.<P>
Run "Preview without saving collections" to see a test report.<P>
Run "Create collections on the Kindle" to save collections.<P>

I am not able to create any collections even using the examples shown in the original post.

I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64bit
Suggestions please?

Yes, agreed - in Calibre itself the author is set to "calibre". But my Kindle Collections plugin is set to create a collection for 2 or more Authors - and it seems to find 20 "calibre" Authors according to the logfile I posted earlier (post #364) -

However, when the collection is sent to the Kindle and re-booted only 2 items appear in the "calibre" collection - this is what I am referring to..... is it somehow my fault or a bug ?

Getting the same thing with Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Does not remember the settings I enter in the customize plugin page and will keep going the the welcome page whenever I try to run preview or create
