I was re-reading Terry Pratchett's Reaper Man last night. There's a section where a character, having realized who Death is and that he knows when everyone will die, starts to ask him when she will die.

I do a tea cup washing ritual every day which I learned a few years ago. Each day as I wash it, I reflect on the possibility that this will be the last time I'll get to do it. It's humbling and I think makes me appreciate life more and I wish I would do something like this with all the people around me (but without being morbid about it).

About to go out with a grubbing hoe and going after and overgrown bed of cannas. They're about 8 inches thick. It's a big project for this spring. Then I have to fix the broken part of the irrigation system....
