I am feeling better since my car accident. I am not "as" afraid to drive. I made it to the drs office and back without panicking which is a god 45 minute drive round trip. Just the car is an eyesore to drive due to the body damage. driver side door is bent and the door handle outer layer os ripped off but it all still works

I'm convinced the mainstream press has outsourced the function of copy editing to the Society of Un-intelligent Agents from the Dystopian Peoples Republic of Silicon Valley.
Almost everything I've read this morning is full of spelling, grammatical, and factual errors. I'm talking about mainstream publishers like the NYT, UK Telegraph, Guardian, SMH etc. In one instance a highly regarded columnist made reference to a statement from US Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez! If they can't get that right why should I believe anything else they write. I gave up on today's Guardian, every article I opened was riddled with errors of one sort or other. BR |

Local Food Lion grocery store ran out of plastic bags - haven't seen paper bags used in years - the check out folk no longer have the finesse the old bag boys had of packing groceries into inelastic square spaces.
And it's no fun carrying in groceries packed in bags with no handles. Throw back V & R |

Back in the old days, 8 of those paper bags fit perfectly in the space behind the back bench in my beloved 1985 Astro Van. And they make the best book covers. |

Disposable plastic bags have mostly been banned here, with an official Federal ban coming down soonish. We've pretty much all moved on to re-usable bags, which vary in quality and the number of times you can reuse them. But I've had the same half-dozen for at least 5 years, and they're much better to pack -- more like the paper ones -- but with excellent handles. And they are much sturdier than either cheap plastic or paper.

I just want handles! Forgot how awkward it is to carry packed bags up the stairs. Guess it's time to invest in some reusable bags ...

At least one local shop has gone to paper bags with handles. Sadly, the last time I was in that shop, the person ahead of me in line placed two 2 litre milk cartons in one. When they went to pick it up, the handles went with their hand while the bag stayed behind. The clerk explained that that much weight needed to be double bagged at 50¢ per bag and you need to be gentle handling them.
Much like @CRussel, I have a collection of durable reusable bags. Too many of the bags being sold are not durable and won't last more than 2 or 3 shopping trips before having to be discarded. |

I got most of mine from a store doing a promo at an excellent price, but a couple of them were from a KCTS9 donation. All have two sets of handles -- regular longish ones, and a pair of short handles that are pretty much all I use. They're sturdy, and last a long time -- going on 4 years now.

Went to my health club to swim on Friday only to find that I couldn't open my small rental locker that I pay extra for annually. This happens a couple of times a year, but this time the staff couldn't open it with their master key. So I swam and didn't lock the day locker (my padlock is in the rental locker) and didn't have my grooming products for the shower, except for some conditioner for my hair that I'd just brought in. Also my cushy slides with arch support are in the locker, so they loaned me a pair that are not supportive. I need support for my bad knees and feet. Before I left, I checked and they still had not fixed it. Went back Saturday and they still could not open it.
I want to know what they are going to do about this. They said it would not be fixed until at least Monday, so I skipped Sunday swim and will go back Monday. On Saturday I brought another pair of shower slides that I use at home, so I had extra to carry (not good for my knees). I found another combination lock at home to use on the day locker if they don't have it fixed on Monday. I never understood why they went over to these new push button electronic locks about 6 years ago. They fail at least twice a year and I have to get someone to open it and now they can't do it. Before that we used our own locks on them. |

I’ve never understood why American paper grocery bags didn’t have handles, but after reading the story about the bag and the milk cartons I think I see why.
Here when plastic bags started to be charged everyone started to take reusable bags from home, so there was a huge decline on plastic bags thrown away, before many people used the plastic bags for trash so it was common to see people on the supermarket putting one item per bag. Nowadays the big reusable bags became the norm, but I also see a lot of this bags discarded, pretty much every time I do on my morning walk I see one of them next to the recycle bin full of garbage, and most look like new, so looks like people still use the shopping bags for garbage. Here most supermarket chains have plastic bags for sale that you later can exchange for a new one when it is broken without having to pay, not sure how often people do that. I always have a foldable shopping bag in my purse, and the big ones are stored in one bag with the small produce bags, it’s my grocery shopping kit. Since I started to sew I’ve done lots of shopping bags, diferent sizes and shapes, in fact my last project was a foldable shopping bag, I’m working on editing the video for my youtube channel. |

I really wish the spider would stop building a web in front of my motion detector. because it's so close, even turning down the sensitivity doesn't stop it.
I don't mind motion for the family of raccoons that wander through, but a spider web moving in the wind? grumble. |

Bad ereader(goodereader.com) finally banned me on all levels, google log in, Facebook, discuss login... etc ...... I guess they don't like me commenting on how stupid their articles are, like the one on how to know you need reading glasses or how to connect to bluetooth.

They have handles. May depend on what store you go to. I like the cloth bags, i bring them now with me. They hold up so much better than paper or plasic |

I managed to fall down the stairs yesterday. I was carrying a big, heavy box downstairs. Those stairs have a platformhalf way up and the upper half of the stairs are steep with very undeep steps (going down you can't put your feet straight on the steps). I couldn't see on which step I was and thought the next one down was the platform. It wasn't and my foot slipped of the step. The box went flying, I fell down on the platform. I managed to twist my knee (not too bad, luckily) and bruise my elbow and lower back. This morning I'm sore and stiff all over.
There were four men who saw it happen (my father and the three guys working for the new owner). Did any of them ask if I was okay. Nope. Did they offer to help me up. Nope. Did they help me gather the things that had fallen from the box. Of course not. I just took some ibuprofen, hopefully it'll help enough for me to move with being too sore. |
