Yeah, unless the cat feels compelled to supervise you and in so doing, forces you to trip and break your neck. ASIDE FROM THAT...it gets to be pretty routine.

Happened to you too? Pixie cat has tripped me up - I have to remember to shuffle my feet and not lift them when I walk.

You have to make sure you go to the bathroom before you go to sleep. That's what I do and I hardly ever get up at night

I don't have any problem walking when getting up at night. Benji sleeps on the bed.

I now have a wee red flashlight (so as not to disturb Mr. H) and I use that, because yes, I've nearly taken a big header, with Zep. He loves to throw himself in front of me, the domestic floor terrorist that he is. The wee flashlight has saved me countless times. It's irreplaceable, IMHO.

I too have a flashlight ... but .... if I only partially wake up and walk (which I too am now capable of), I usually forget it. Sliding/shuffling my feet detects Pixie - who also likes to park in front of my feet when I walk. I took a major spill earlier this month but luckily suffered only bumps & bruises.

I'm surprised that that major spill doesn't have you holding onto that thing for dear life! :-)

I wake up every 2-3 hours and have to get up to use the bathroom. I know that I drink too much water, but even if I cut back, I have to get up during the night to pee. This has been going on for at least 3 years.

I have black cats. At night. Yeah. So far, I've more managed to nearly kick them rather than trip over them. But I know my night is coming.

If I get up three times a night for the bathroom it's a good night!

On the plus side, I almost always get back to sleep the moment my head hits the pillow.

EDIT: I haven't had to worry about stepping on "anyone" since I had Shadow, more than ten years ago. And I never really had to worry about Shadow -- he knew my routine and didn't stir from his corner unless I started to get dressed.
