I have the following problem with calibre-64bit-3.99.9 - when I'm browsing epub files in the viewer, there are either black rectangles, or white rectangles or rectangles with random fragments of text from the book in different places in the viewer. A similar situation is when I double-click on any word. Also, by right-clicking to recall settings, rectangles appear with random text fragments of the settings, making it impossible for me to change or even try to enter and check any settings.
I have never had any problems with stable versions of the viewer up to and including calibre-64bit-3.48.0. However, I must point out that I have a very old computer - over 11 years old. I also have this question by the way: is it possible in calibre to view pdf files without reflow in the original layout, like in Acrobat Reader? The calibre viewer is my favorite program for reading and I dream of viewing all the files in one program. Is it possible? Reflow can be useful, but in most cases pdf files looks much better in the original layout. Last edited by gaudi3; 10-02-2019 at 06:41 PM. |

@gaudi3: The calibre viewer is designed for reflowable content so no, you cant view PDF files without reflow. As for your problem, can you post a screenshot and also say what operating system you are running on?

To be more clear: the problem occurs in the stable release, therefore it is not a bug in the beta. Therefore please open a new thread in the devices subforum so that this could be properly discussed.

@Gaudi3: That looks like issues with rendering inside the browser engine. Try updating your graphics drivers, that might help.

My GPU is 11 years old, so no new drivers for many, many years :-(
I thought that since calibre-64bit-3.48.0 works perfectly it might be a simple solution. |

Last driver for my GPU was from 2013

Sadly no, 3.48 uses Qt WebKit as the browser engine which is itself very old and no longer maintained. calibre 4 has switched to Qt WebEngine.
