This move is about 13-17 miles, depending on which route you take. The longer route takes less time to drive. One last moving company is coming today for an estimate, so far they all will use 2 trucks and 6 guys.

We close on the new place this afternoon, still no contract on the home we are currently in. If the last couple who came thru don't make an offer, we will drop the price. That couple is supposed to be coming thru the house again, some time today...their agent said they were "very interested".

The main move will happen 1-3-22. I'm so excited! I'm so tired!!

Why not find a sweep on the internet? Apparently there are a lot of shady and untrustworthy sweeps. You're best bet is getting a recommendation from friends/family/acquaintances.

For those informing: yes, I do have a carbon monoxide detector. My father thought it was me overreacting, but it now shows it wasn't. Luckily all my heaters switched off automatically before the detector was set off.

No, I agree, I wouldn't find a sweep on the net. We use sweeps and the mess that they can make, even if well-intentioned and the fact that 99% of the time, you have to leave the room (at least) whilst they are working...nope. I'd need one that was HIGHLY-recommended.

Our neighbour didn't know a good sweep. So my father called a friend who is also in the building business. He had worked with one that was good and was able to solve problems other sweeps weren't able to.

So my father called today. And the sweep's business is closed on Friday.

With this type of luck the problem will be huge, expensive and will take time to solve.

I had a USPS Priority fixed rate box make it from San Diego to my home in Ohio in 2 days. Informed delivery originally had it arriving on Monday the 6th. That is some sort of record, as other shipments from that same company generally take 4-7 business days, and that's Priority.

So we now own 2 houses. We signed the papers on the new digs today. We dropped the price a bit on the one we're in, and have one showing scheduled tomorrow. Waiting on the 3rd moving company estimate.

What happened to unscented body wash? I decided to buy some instead of the bar soap I've been using which gunks up the drains.

Even Aveeno just has "as gentle as fragrance free".

I guess they assume people buy unscented solely because of sensitive skin. Well, I buy it because of my sensitive nose! Any scented product I put on my skin always seems to smell stronger in me than in the bottle.

I'm sure there are things I can order online, but I just wanted to grab something at the local drugstore. Aughh.

Scents are the new second-hand smoke. People who bathe in their cologne, hair products, laundry soap and rinse. It's all horrible.

Then there are the items like Febreze, scented plug-in room deodorizers, candles etc. That Febreze crap and similar products ruin fabric, as do fabric softeners. Useless expensive products.

I don't buy liquid shower soap often, we use Ivory bar soap. Ivory does make liquid shower soap that just smells like the bar soap.

Oh, my GOD, no kidding. I have a terrible time also finding my unscented antiperspirant. It's like they assume that every single person on earth wants their pits to smell like "Irish Spring" or "Waterfall Willies" or "Floral Fragrance" or or or. It's infuriating. Body washes are the WORST. I tried to use one that my husband received, that he would never use (waste not, want not, ya know) but sweet Moses on a pony, the stench stays on my body for days! From a BODY WASH! It's not perfume, (not that any real scent that I wear would last that long--or I wouldn't use it) for the love of...

I simply don't want 5 or 10 things on my personage combatting the other items. It's tough on noses. And, if I choose to wear a scent, by god, I want to smell like what I've deliberately chosen, not main-scent+5 lesser scents from shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, antiperspirant, hair products and so on. Ugh.

I'm sure there are things I can order online, but I just wanted to grab something at the local drugstore. Aughh.

I've had to go to online buying for most of my personal care items for that reason. I live in dread that they'll d/c the products, but every time this topic comes up, here, other forums, etc. it's always people complaining that they can't get them. ???

Here in Canada, we can get Pears soap -- it's an unscented glycerin soap that doesn't leave a scent behind. In the States, I used to buy Basis or Neutrogena which also has a liquid version. Both are scent-free.

For antiperspirants, it's bad in the US, but nearly impossible here. Last I checked, there was only a single brand - Speed Stick Power - that I could sometimes find in the store. I gave up and started buying it online as well.

Shampoo is easy -- there are lots of brands out there that are scent free. I've been using DHS for years. It's available here, but over-priced, so I usually get it when I'm in the States for some reason.

Secret Clinical Strength (I like the soft solid) Sensitive Unscented. I know that Secret exists up north. Not only will it not stinkify you with unwanted smell of flowers or fresh babies' butts or whatever, but it works for stevedores. Trust me.

I have a lot of topical stuff allergies (or just sensitivities), so...my place looks like the Cosmetics' Graveyard of dead purchases. Makeup, shampoos, skin products...the list goes on.

I've been using Dove unscented bar soap, which I like, but the soap scum clogs the drain.

I read somewhere recently that those drain guards intended to catch hair also help stop soap scum from getting in the drain. Maybe I'll just look for one of those and then I could keep using the bar soap.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who hates too many scented products! I buy unscented laundry detergent. I've found the scents of cheap VO5 shampoos don't linger too badly.

Dry idea makes an unscented gel deodorant. The only one I'll buy. Target and Walgreens both carry it, buried on the bottom shelf.

I hate walking past perfumeries where hundreds of scents are on display, and the store just stinks. It is just a mash of smells. How do people decide which cologne/perfume they like in the store?? It's like trying to gauge the brightness of a lamp by placing it outside in direct sunlight.

People that wear too much after-shave, or wear it inappropriately, like over a dinner irks me.

I don't care if it's aftershave, perfume, cologne, hairspray...it's sickening when anyone, of any gender or identity or what-have-you, drenches themselves in something scented. Hell, I don't care if they've tied orchids to their body and it's a natural scent...enough is enough.

I used to work at an office, and in that building was a woman that must have poured scent on herself daily. We all desperately tried to avoid the elevator when we saw her--it was that bad. I never knew if she just had impaired smelling capabilities or what. (Mr. Hitch's smelling and tasting capabilities have been destroyed since his illness in 2015. Fortunately, he never cared for anything scented, so I don't have to guard him from too much Bulgari or whatever men are wearing nowadays.)

Here in the UK we have a toiletries & beauty products brand called 'Simple' made by Unilever. All their products are unscented and my family & I have used them for years.

A quick check on Amazon.com shows that a number of their products are available in the US.
