My 3 Claras! The one with the largest bezel is the 2e.

Here you go. 2e is on the right. Same font, size etc and brightness is at 64%.

That's more like my experience. Even in the thumbnail I could see the difference between the HD and 2E. I want to say the HD is more washed out looking, but that's not quite fair to the HD. It still looks good, but the 2E (I suppose hte Carta 1200 screen) just looks better.

The 2E is closer to black on white, whereas the HD looks like black on grey in comparison.

Yes, I’m very happy. It’s going to be my go out kobo, it will live in my handbag, so I guess it is extravagant replacing my HD for a back up device but I’m so pleased with the screen so it’s worth it.

No. Neither device had warm light on at all.

Yours, I can understand. If you hadn't pointed out the 2E, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Are they like that with lighting cranked up also?

I wonder if the 2e (even when the warm light is turned off) might not have them turned on just a bit. That's what it looks like, but it's probably just the difference in the Carta 1200 screen.

The 2e seems to handle the page layout better. I'm guessing they're probably not both on the same firmware, however, so that might be the difference.

No. The FW version number is the same, but the files are different sizes.

Here's mine. In the pictures they look pretty similar. But in reality the difference is like what Josie saw. I'll blame my photography skills.

Both readers have the same firmware, backlight set to 50% and Natural Light maxed. I took one photo with lights on in the room and one with lights off. But looks like a wasted effort. HD on the left, 2E on the right.

Well then the way the 2e handles the layout better is more impressive to me than the screen difference.
