Yup. And while buying books unintentionally is the most irritating aspect, others include not getting to verify the price which can be affected by credit or promotions and not being able to have a basket and do a single transaction when buying more than one book. I don’t get it; even if some people like the option, why can’t it be disabled? It would cut down on the angry phone calls from people who don’t realize it can be undone or don’t know how to do it (and it’s not obvious, either).

+1

I'm a little surprised that there isn't some sort of consumer protection/law against Amazon's 1-click. IMO, it makes Amazon look like a used car salesman.

I had a dental plan through a previous employer.

My dental coverage was "up to the amount of premiums I had paid in." There was no equivalent of catastrophic care coverage. When I was having extensive work done to get where I am, the dentist and I played games with timing, doing work and submitting claims when the money would be there to cover it.

I would have preferred to self-insure and just put money in an account intended for that, but my employer wouldn't do that and I had to deal with the insurer.

This is the one arena where you would think that a co-op/pool would actually make sense, but that seems to be NOT what happens with private dental. At all. Every plan I've seen or heard of, in the private sphere, is effectively "up to the amount of the premiums" or close enough as to (as they say) make no nevah mind.

Frustrating as hell.

Why would your employer need to be involved in a decision to self insure? You opt out of dental and put money in a bank account.
Unless you were looking for a tax-advantaged account or a match of some kind?

I just came back from the dentist, again. He finished the root canal. Except for two or three sharp but very short twinges there was no pain. Except for my right jaw, which started to cramp after a while.

Except for the anesthetic I'm feeling good. I'm hungry, but I don't trust myself enough not to chew on my numb tongue or cheek. So I'll have to wait with that.

The bill for the treatment on Monday came in yesterday and this morning the insurance approved the claim of last week's treatment, so I expect the money back tomorrow, they're usually very fast. When I get it back I'll treat myself to an order of floss and fabric for my next cross stitch project.

"Benefits up the amount of your premiums" sounds more like one of those prepaid discount plans than any real "insurance" as I understand the term.

That aside, I guess if the "insurance" company, or whatever they actually are, has negotiated rates that are much lower than what you'd pay walking in off the street, like insurance companies often do, there could still be value there.

Hopefully the cramp was just from nervous stress and all is well now!

BTW: Does "floss" mean something non-dental in this context?

Haha, I hadn't realized that could be confusing, but yes, it's embroidery thread.

The right side is the unaffected side, but it probably was a combination of stress and having to have my mouth open for over and hour.

The anesthetic has finally worn off. The left side is still a bit sensitive, but not tooth ache sensitive, but more because of all the pushing and having my mouth open. The gums near the affected tooth are also irritated, because of the clamp of the rubber shield digging into them.

The dentist said it could be a bit sore for a little while, but nothing serious.

I'm now going to make a nice snack, my favourite tea and then curl up in bed with my cross stitch project and watch some paranormal show.

I take ibuprofen before my dental visits, and sometimes the dentist uses a mouth prop, because my jaw clicks each time I open wide and close it. Using the prop keeps my mouth open without constant opening and closing, and let's me relax while the prop keeps it open. It depends on what is being done.

Last week I ordered things for my next couple of cross stitch projects. I, stupidly, didn't check if everything was in stock. I ordered two hoops, at the moment only one is in stock, but it be that they already put aside two for me. One kit I ordered wasn't in stock. It should arrive this week. However, on the product page the estimated time of delivery changed to over a week. Hopefully they get deliveries weekly and this is the date for the next delivery.

I'm almost done with my current project, I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow night. And I would like to start a new project as soon as possible. I love cross stitching whilst watching TV at night. If I had seen that they didn't have everything I would have made a separate order with those items, at least I would be able to start a new project without delay.

So, note to self: check the stock of each item before ordering from this website again.
