because those make her sick.On the list my dentist gave me he also lists "suture material", when my upper wisdom teeth were removed my old dentist didn't stitch them and although I believe they now use stitch that dissolve I hope that I won't need them (I've heard from several people those are really disgusting). |

Good luck. I hope it all goes well for you. If your bottom ones are like your top ones you should be fine.
I had two layers of sutures for the bottom ones. Dissolving inside and stringy ones outside (in my mouth). I must have had something like your mother with the roots going the wrong way, having to have the teeth taken out in pieces. although I had a general anaesethetic which I think made me even more sick. |

I thought about it but I think it's a bit rude, my dentist always explains what he's doing and the radio is always on (better than my old dentist who never told you what he was doing and was always half watching tennis). I'm glad it won't be a long procedure like with the root canal. Still nervous though. |

But this time, the procedure will be MUCH easier for you, and without so much discomfort. It will all work out exactly as you want it to, and the memories of the first time will be over-written with new and more pleasant ones. In fact, you might just enjoy it so much that it will be something people do for their vacations! Well... maybe not. But can you imagine the brochure?!? ![]() Stitchawl |

With the price of medicine and dentistry in the US rising the way it is, and the superior Medical services offered in Thailand at 1/4 the price, (and they really ARE superior,) it's actually worth it to make the trip for major work. Get a vacation and a cure for the price of the cure alone in the US. Stitchawl |

I came in and went to the front desk (I had made an appointment for a physical.) At the desk I was handed over to a hostess who stayed with me throughout the physical. She led me from clinic to clinic as I had all the various tests and samples, blood drawings, chest x-rays, EKG, and visual exam. If there was a wait of more than 5 minutes at one of the rooms, she would bring me a cup of tea. (I never had longer than a 10 minute wait.) Except for private time with the doctors or techs, she was with me, leading me to the correct place, helping me fill out forms, and generally taking care that my experience in the hospital was as pleasant and stress free as possible. It was one of the most thorough physicals I have ever had. Total cost: about $50 USD. (EDIT: I forgot to say that the hospital had it's own convenience store, book store, and a McDonalds...) Just got back from one of the big shot's office. Something went wrong I was involved with, but I always cover my own you know what, and I came out of it fine. Still always makes me nervous when those inter office messages from the big shots pop up.

As predicted it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. I got three injections; first for the replacing of the filling and the general for the extraction and just before the extraction several smaller ones to numb the gums extra well. There was a lot of wriggling involved because the root was curved but it came out without any problems.
I got a prescription for painkiller and mouthwash. The bottle of mouthwash is huge, but then I have enough for the next round. I'm going to take the painkiller in a minute because although my face is still numb from temple to jawline I'm starting to feel some pinching where the tooth was extracted and my left ear is joining in with the fun. When I got home all the tension came out and I could hardly get upstairs because my legs were shaking so hard. I'm going to make some tea (and let it cool down) and then I'm going to curl up in my pre-warmed bed (I love my electrical blanket!) to watch the final episodes of A Game of Thrones and maybe start with Fringe season 3. |

Now it's safe to share my wisdom tooth story!
I had no idea what was involved when the dentist said that my wisdom teeth had to come out. So I drove myself in - and apparently I had weirdly placed nerve branches so that she ended up doing a direct nerve block that numbed one entire half of my head. Then the assistant had to hold onto my shoulders as the dentist worked at prying/pulling them. Got a couple of stitches and cotton packing. Didn't realize how exhausting/traumatic this was until I tried to write the check to pay - my hands were shaking as if I had palsy. Then I began to carefully drive myself home - I knew I was in trouble now but thought I could make it. As I drove along, I noticed drivers in cars beside me staring and making odd faces. Couldn't figure out why until I looked at myself in the rear view mirror. I was literally drooling blood down the numb side of my face - unless I watched my face in the mirror, the numb half of my lip drooped open and all the bloody saliva was running out! I can't imagine the stories the other drivers told about seeing a vampire driving down Glenwood Avenue!
