The ADD is how much you add. That is, if you want a whole pair of glasses, that match your bifocal insert. If you want a different length altogether, than you have to ask the Dr or guess.

I'm not lucky with packages lately. Most of them were delayed in the last couple of weeks. I had to complain to various shipping companies because the drivers all listed the cause of not being able to deliver my package as "nobody home", this while our store was open.

On Monday I ordered a new pair of Crocs. They were send out the same day. The next day, when checking the status of my package on Tuesday morning there was a notice that the depot my package was at had had some problems during the night and part of the packages wouldn't be able to be delivered that day, they would do their best to deliver them on Wednesday. That can happen, no problem. On Wednesday that message had disappeared (so I assume the backlog was cleared). But after the arrival scan of my package at 1.44 am on Tuesday nothing further has happened to my package.

Yesterday I email the shipping company, in the automatic reply they only say the will answer as soon as possible. Since they hadn't answered this morning, I also emailed Crocs, often the company paying for the shipping can get things done easier than the person receiving. They will answer between 1 and 3 business days, so no answer from they yet.

Meanwhile, we receive several packages a week for my sister and she hardly has any problems.

You need to complain to Crocs actually. They are the only one that can complain to the shipping company as they are the one having a contract with them. You are not a party for the shipping party (legally). They are paid by Crocs in this instance.

Last night I looked at pictures of a woman I once dated and now I'm feeling emptiness... deep sadness. She works a few blocks from the university (where I'm at), but I'll never go and visit her. She's happy and has a family... We ended badly. The deep sadness--I've been feeling for years, I realize now.

(A few days later)

Client X: "Hey, Hitch, Createspace/KDP/Ingram says that my cover is the wrong size! Did you make my book file wrong???"

Hitch: "Well, Client X, send me your wraparound, and I'll take a look, see if I can figure out the issue."

The cover arrives, and Hitch reviews it

Hitch: "Client X, you have 200 pages, in your book's interior. This cover has a .25" wide spine. Your book needs a half-inch spine. This spine is half the size it needs to be. How'd you make this cover, Client X?"

Client X: "Oh, well, Hitch, I hired a Fiverr, after I started working with you, and we guesstimated from my manuscript that I'd have about 100 pages! That's what size she built that cover for!"

Client X: "But you can fix it, right, Hitch? You can fix that in a minute, right?????"

Kill. Me. Now.

I do, often (say that...obviously, yup, "Change Order" is practically my middle name). The issue nearly always seems to be that we get some solid image, not the source files. I mean...imagine, if you will, a lovingly-made image, something like, say, tiger stripes, as the background for a wraparound book cover, that smoothly goes from the leading edge of the front cover, to the trailing edge of the back. Without the source files, the layers that make up that cover, I have NO way of "fixing it" without ruining it.

It's disheartening, to say the least. And, WHY CAN'T THEY RTFI????

I just...I know you guys have listened to me say this for years, and I should be over it, but...what happened to people? Why can't they just READ and follow instructions? When did people get to be so damn DUMB????

Two things:

"No Time."
"Can't be bothered."

Nobody reads anything. I've seen people installing software using a guide I wrote, and then got complaints that it doesn't work. Turns out they only read the first few words of a sentence, or the list of software and install it, keeping all the default configurations, and they skip all the "If you... then...", and "set X in file Y" parts.

Some people you also can't ask anything. The answer will always be:

"No time.... have to run...."

or:

"I don't know..."

IMHO, it's a matter of priority. Everybody thinks he's so darn important that HE doesn't have to read and/or follow instructions, or can't be bothered to look stuff up or even understand it. Other, lesser people can do that, and if possible, without having to pay them.
