I'm using K4PC 1.34.1 together with the batch file to launch it with KFX downloads disabled. The batch file can be found in message #1265 in the Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 and KFX in calibre thread in the calibre forum.

Just run the batch file and it will launch K4PC and then disable KFX downloads.

No, I've gotten the invite, but I'm not interested in it. It's taking me time just to learn Windows 10, and it works so I'm not about to put it at risk with a new install.

I would still be using my Windows 7 if it hadn't gotten so slow, and old.

I just downloaded the latest ADE, Calibre and the old Kindle for pc w/batch file. I don't like the new reader in Calibre, it doesn't like when I use the scroll wheel to turn the pages so I use ADEs reader instead.

Sin & Spirit is the fourth in KF Breene's Demigods of San Francisco series, which has had some positive discussion upthread and which I also like. It has dropped to $2.00, which is not a low enough price for me to buy since it's also in KU, but which may work for someone who doesn't have a KU membership, or just really wants their own copy.
