No. If the book gets fixed, you can just download the fixed copy.

Well, this is definitely how it works for the multiformat ebooks. I haven't had to test on a DRMed ebook yet, but since they have to re-encode if you change your PID (for Mobipocket), I'm pretty sure the same applies.

I've been reading the series, am about done with Fellowship on my Kindle and have not noted any problems with formatting. I re-downloaded it about three weeks ago.

it's not looking good. i sent another message to kindle support and received the standard reply.

You can still read The Hobbit; it seems to be fine.

No, "The Children of Hurin" is NOT fine. It's so bad, in fact, that I got a refund on it at FW - it's the first book I've ever bought that's been so bad that I've done that

Chunks of text are just plain missing from it. A sentence will suddenly break off in mid-flow, or two sentences will be joined together with the linking text missing. It's awful.

I just noticed the LOTR price has been increased to $15.94. I wonder if this is related to the release of a corrected version or is it simply a price increase?
