I noticed Amazon updated the KU page. They now claim over 700,000 titles.

Looks like Amazon is no longer preventing you from borrowing a KU book you already own. I was just able to borrow a KU w/narration book that I bought pre-KU, and now the free audio version is in my Audible library.

Now that is interesting and good to know. Thanks for trying that. Not sure if I even would have tried, assuming I couldn't do that. I have a few books I already own that now have narration in KU included. Cool.

I don't know when they changed it; I assume it was a response to complaints.

Did you try by any chance if returning the book from KU keeps the one originally purchased and only removes the free audibook?

Don't know. You could easily try it with a free classic, however. Buy it, borrow it, return the borrowed one and see what happens.

I don't think I'll try this until they get the big publishers like Simon & Schuster and Harper Collins into the mix.

I've subscribed with Scribed and Kindle Unlimited, kept Scrib for a few months, unsubscribed. Scribed's app for android is to quirky, but otherwise the service has plenty for selection. Kindle Unlimited also has a great selection and of the two, the only reason I prefer Kindle Unlimited is because it has a better selection for the genre that interests me. Kept Kindle Unlimited for a month and unsubscribed.

I prefer getting a yearly online library card. I discovered with the monthly reading subscriptions I felt "pressured" to read in order to "get my moneys worth." Will I subscribe again? Maybe, but as long as I can use an online library, it will be awhile.

Returned the book today, and the originally purchased e-book is still in my library.

Oh good, I actually couldn't test it myself - I am lucky that I get one out of the ten slots anymore (I am guranteed at least one slot ). The other nine slots for KU my wife declared as her own. That is okay though - she reads much more (time wise and number of books). She is quite happy with one eco system (KU plus occasional Amazon purchase), while I don't mind using OverDrive sometimes as well.

That's $13.06 for those of us on this side of the pond (US), I wonder why our brittish friends are paying more than those of us. To be the same rate our brittish friends should be paying 6.12 pounds. Conversions by Xe.com.

I always keep a running list of the value of the books that I get from the library, the first month I got $95 worth of books, last month I got $145 worth of books and for October (my kindle unlimited month of october starts the last week in spetember, due to when I signed up for the unlimited program) Iam already up to $15.

£6.12 is not a good number, if anything £6.99 would look better. The other thing to remember is probably 20% VAT included in the price in the UK, and would bring the cost much closer to $10 without tax.
