My Oasis which was expected to ship November 5th for a November 7th delivery, now says it's shipping today on the order summary. They haven't updated the dates on the tracking page though.

I received the Kindle Oasis this morning but my Merlot cover status is strange. On the Orders page it says "Arriving today by 8pm" but at the same time "Not Yet Shipped". I live in an urban area, presumably a warehouse is close by. Does anyone else have the same thing?

That's weird since I would assume the Japanese ads business and backend ad network would be run regionally. It's well known that one reason Amazon support will remove ads gratis is if you are going to be using the Kindle in a country other than the region it was purchased in (making the ads pointless). Of course be careful of asking for too many courtesies, might result in getting fired as a customer.

Nice. Though i'm sure those prices will start normalizing once Amazon has solidified its foothold. I've ridden the metro and jr around Tokyo quite a lot and frankly I haven't seen a single local with an e-reader. Everyone is either reading a paperback or on their keitai.

DH goes out on a Tuesday night, its my one night a week to curl up with my Kindle for a few hours of peace and quiet. I'm still gutted that my Oasis hasn't shipped yet. Like Harry I was offered the 3G for the Wifi price but i have to pay out first and get a refund once it ships so i'm worried about that too as I can't really afford the extra £60. Pretty much on edge right now, plus that lovely new cover is taunting me...

Mine and my husband's arrived today around 2pm in Michigan via USPS! We both ordered day of announcement. My 32gb wifi shipped Sun morning from Trenton, NJ. His 8gb wifi shipped Sun afternoon from Chattanooga, TN.

Planning to settle in and read for the evening while studiously ignoring any trick-or-treaters!

I did try contacting Amazon support at the co.jp website first, hoping they would remove the ads for me (I offered to pay and everything) but I was told that was not possible unfortunately. This is why I ended up doing what I explained above.
I've heard of what you said above but in my experience that is something that only the US/English speaking customer support does. Could be wrong though.
