Yes, I know it is. I was meaning that everyone who pre-ordered that model reasonably early in the process has received it. Are you suggesting that Amazon shouldn't supply new models to retail outlets? New Kindles almost always have initial supply issues.

I phoned Amazon again and yet again got no where with their customer support. The person I spoke to previously applied a £10 discount even when I told them not to. Amazon CS are absolutely shocking.

Still not sure what to do really, I really can't see myself using the 3G feature.

Your choices are basically:

1. Buy the 8GB model from John Lewis (they have it in stock).
2. Wait a week for the 32GB WiFi version.
3. Order the 32GB 3G version, which you'd get tomorrow.

No problem Harry, not your fault!

Shame JL aren't stocking the 32GB Wifi model. You were quite lucky getting through to people that want to help, I wasted over an hour today on the phone to 4 different people.

I'm waiting to hear back from executive support still but placed a backup order with Best Buy that I can supposedly pick up this Friday. Clearly, as posts here show, they can fill 32GB 3G orders... they're just refusing to fix mine.

I got my case today, but my Oasis not. I ordered the 32gb. I was looking forward to loading taking it away with me on hols tomorrow. Now it'll come while I'm away, by the look of it. Sigh. Also the Simpsons DVD I was watching with my lunch jammed, and attempting to refit the comfy cat shelf to the radiator for the winter I found a bit missing. Sigh!

I suspect that what made the difference is that when it got to late last night, and my Oasis still hadn't shipped, I got them to give me in writing a guarantee that I'd get it today, so they felt obliged to do something to help me out. I've been ordered stuff from Amazon for enough years now to know when something isn't going as it should do, and getting to 10pm with no dispatch is definitely not normal.

Mine has been in shipping today for 2 days now. That is one heck of a long day . My delivery still says Friday. I think I probably wasted the 3.99 for one day ship. I see some folks that ordered that model when I did and theirs are already on the road to them. Oh well. Gives me a couple of days to waffle over the cover color.

I've moved my order to John Lewis. I had also ordered the Amazon 3 year accident protection, but JL have 2 year for a tenner on top, which was far cheaper than the amazon one. With the 'savings' I added next day delivery, so lets see if it arrives tomorrow!

(It's hard to use the word 'savings' when buying a device for over £200)

Same here, I noticed at 11PM that it still had not shipped and straight away knew something wasn't right. Us Amazon addicts know that It's not normal.

Happy to see that my replacement 3G Oasis has now gone to "Preparing for Dispatch", which the original one never got as far as . That suggests that it at least exists, unlike the seemingly apocryphal 32GB WiFi...

Update: They found the package! I got it. For some reason it was set up in German so I blundered through that with some help from Google translate (I work with a German but I'm at home now) til I got to the language setting. Restarted. I'll install the new update this afternoon but it works fine.

The executive support rep cleared the lost/stolen block so it registered just fine and the books I sent to it are there and it has its name!
