There is a very comprehensive review of the Nexus 7 at Android Central, including a video and full discussion of the tablet's specs.

Does it confirm that the Nexus has no support for USB-OTG mass storage devices?

The only statements I saw in the article regarding USB were:

Quote:
The microUSB port does not handle any video out, and without any hacking you won't be able to connect an SD card reader or a thumb drive.
and
Quote:
There is no USB external storage option.

It is nice to see that Gamestop will be carrying this but their return policy is not as liberal as Best Buy. I have no concrete evidence the latter will be carrying this, only word of mouth of employees at various mobile and retail stores. I didn't see it for preorder the last time I checked on their website.

I will go play with it when it is available and see how I feel about it. I'll pick one up from BB if/when they carry it and then put it through its paces just like any other piece of electronics. And I'll continue to read through forums for opinions and reviews as always as well. Hopefully there will not be too many bugs!

And I have already spent more and gotten less from a 7" tablet then the reported specs on this one. I cannot see where it hurts with no risk to try it.

And by the way I wouldn't mind having one of the later IPADs for this asking price if this indeed is just another one of those!

The reviewer said no USB-OTG support. But it is easily hackable.

Someone else mentioned a Wi-drive for storage needs.

I have a USB drive that I connected to my router. I use SharePort on the computer to access it. Is there something similar available for Android so I can see the drive in a File Explorer?

Archos is coming out with a new tablet for $249, here are some quick specs:

9.7" screen (A little odd for Android)
1GB Ram
1GHZ Arm Cortex A8 Single Core processor
16GB Internal Memory
132PPI
2MP back camera with a 0.3 front camera
Micro-SD card slot
Mini-HDMI port
Micro-USB port
USB 2.0 port
Android 4.0 ICS

The ports are nice but the proccessor is a little needy, and the PPI is almost half what the Nexus 7 is. The screen is supposed to be the same Resolution and size as the iPad 2.

I'm still going for the Nexus 7, but if the ports are really important to you it might be worth a look, but remember that the screen size is not a standard size for and Android tablet, so apps might not scale very well.

I ordered one of these Nexus 7's and I'm looking forward to using this as an e-reader as well. I plan on using Aldiko app as my reader. Does anyone know a better app for reading?

The new model is hardware is just a platform. So you want to close it as much as possible. Think about it, Apple makes 30 percent of all purchases no USB or SD. Nexus 7 has no sd card, nor does the Kindle
tablet), both are locked as much as possible to the infrastructure. The Kindle to Amazon, the Nexus 7 to Google, the Nook to B&N (although it has a micro SD).
The Amazon reader use Mobi format.
The conclusion is that Companies want to lock you into their infrastructure.
Thus the reason we do not see sd on the Nexus.
