If your Kindle is running the latest 5.18.5 firmware then there is a good chance that new DRM is being used, otherwise no. So far you have not shared enough details about your situation to determine whether or not that change affects you.

The problem is that the new firmware won't allow you to remove the DRM. So basically, your now unable to remove the DRM.
