I'd just like to add that my suggestion is a quick fix (or a hack even). Since it's usually best to try to avoid empty paragraphs, in future when writing something new, it might be best to do something akin what Quoth suggests, and use paragraph-level formatting to do what you are now doing with the div tags, even though it means you need to make a couple of new css classes.
