Is the D: drive a local drive? We're asking because if it's not, that opens up another whole can of worms.

Yes it is a local drive with ample space.

Where is the Calibre Library - i.e. it's path.

Your screen shot tells us you've pinned it to Quick Access - but where is it really, right click it and look in Properties

When did you add the D: to your system? (befor or after the initial Calibre install?)

I ask, because W10 can (option) move designated USER folders to other paths.
FWIW all my media files are on the Rotating disk. They do not need rapid access to play)

That is not a valid path, precision is important otherwise we have make assumptions - which may be themselves be invalid. Simplest way to get a path is with File Explorer, viz:

puts "D:\Calibre\Libraries\Books" into the clipboard.

So, I'll assume it's actually "D:\Calibre", which is not the current or old default location. That's okay, you can put libraries where it best suits you, as you can see in my screen shot.

I'm wondering if you've been snagged by the Windows Controlled Folders feature, its an end-point protection (from ransom-ware etc) measure, see ==>> Enable or Disable Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10 | Tutorials

FWIW: I suggest you use the Windows 10 Snip 'n Sketch tool rather than MS Word. Press WinKey+Shift+S and a popup tool bar will appear at the top of the screen, hover the pointer to see what the tools do. The image is clipped as a notification, click it, save as an image (jpg or png) and upload to here via the paper clip icon in Advanced mode. I use IrfanView to mark/highlight the saved image.

Calibre was installed long after new PC was purchased.
I seem to attract trouble with upgrades.
Both of you tried to assist me early last year when I was blocked from sending books via any means, Amazon Hotmail, GMX and Outlook. Since then I have had to copy and paste books to my Kindle. I did find the library in a completely different place than it was a week ago!

Thanks again.

@colc - Look for a sub-folder named "Calibre Library" in your Documents folder, also look for it in your user folder "C:\Users\<your user name>"

Let us know if you find it, and if you do find it - look to see if it has a metadata.db file in it.

The issue has been very strange, I cannot understand why the location changed without any input from me, also why a search for any book was unsuccessful.
However, as per my post yesterday, I did find it, was now in the D:/myname/calibre library
Sometimes I think I coped better with my first PC an XT, IN the early 80's, the days of DOS, those were the days!!
Thanks again
