Guess I can do the Read/unread thing as I only have around 650 books in Calibre even if it is a bit of trouble.

I usually read everything as possible; BUT Mobilread is putting a clinker onto my normal reading habits as in the dab blasted "Deals, Bargains, Free" forum have put many holes in my pocket & accelerated the growth rate of my library.
I maintain my TBR in a Word document, but I do use the Read column in Calibre along with a date first read custom column. I don't label books as unread, I just leave the Read column blank until I add yes.

I have a read/unread column (red X = no, green check = yes) and have Calibre set to change the text of rows with read books to red.

I have a column with the options Read, Unread and Reading (I read multiple books at the same time).

But I also re-read books, so I don't have a real TBR pile of books as every book is in that pile.

I use a Read column, marking as unread (red cross), read (green tick) and not going to read (unlabelled). I've also got a 'date finished reading' column, although that's only filled in for books from around 2010 onwards.

I guess I don't think of reading as something to accomplish. I have a lot of books waiting to be read but they're not a list, they're just a lot of books waiting so when I finish my current book I'll have a nice selection ready to browse through to pick my next book.

Reading is for it's own sake and, to me, isn't a goal oriented thing.

Anyway, I'm going to live forever even if it kills me.

I think very few of us do. Reading is for fun. Having a reasonably large TBR is a good idea.

But having a 5-year TBR pile of bought books, as I do, is a bit excessive.
