I don't know if there was an update or what but today I checked out a book from OD on the PC at work and turned the Wi-Fi on the KA1, hit the sync button and the book showed up on my device. YIPEEEEEE! I'm a very happy camper. This didn't work last Wed. when I tried it.

I also noticed an odd thing, when I placed holds the normal way through my library OD website, the email that showed up was the one I registered with Kobo and not my normal email I use when placing holds from OD.

Bit of an update.

I did a factory reset and jumped through all the hoops. I set up the one library account that I use most often in Overdrive on the KA1. When I borrowed a library book from the library web site and the matching book was available from Kobo, I synced my KA1 and the book showed up in my library. My issues with the Overdrive app and hit/miss seems to be tied to having multiple libraries in the Overdrive app. At this point, I'm going to be happy with using the web browser/library website working saving and importing the files into ADE and then copying them to my ereader.

If I could go into my library's website, borrow a book and then hit sync to put it on my H2O I would be a very happy man. :-D

First experience with OD Holds available: I can report that I was notified that 2 of my OD holds were available today. (I have my OD holds set to auto checkout) I turned on the KA1 WiFi, hit the sync button and wallah! there they are.

I'm so happy This was no. 1 on my list of requirements before upgrading from my Sony 350.

Sweet. We're these holds made from the kobo itself or from your PC?

These holds were placed from a PC. I have an extensive Wish List w/my library account so activate holds from the list when the timing seems right. I also request items for purchase through my OD account, sometimes selecting check out immediately when available or notifying when the item becomes available from my library. I read lots of book prepub alerts/reviews of upcoming titles so this system works well for me.

Last week, when I first received my Kobo it didn't recognize a current item I had on hold. From the Kobo site on device it told me I had to place a hold when the item was already on hold for me, and the sync feature did nothing.

I don't know if there was an update or just a delay in linking my OD account with Kobo and my public library, one thing that stands out when I place a hold through my library account is that the email address default is now the one that is associated with my Kobo account. I work for the library, and have used my work email for library OD notifications.

Items can be returned early Going to my public library Overdrive list of items out (thru a PC) - the titles that were synced to the KA1 had the "return" button available.

One of my hold books became available yesterday. Via my PC, I logged into overdrive and clicked "borrow". Synced my kobo and voila! My new borrowed overdrive book was there. Nice and easy.

Ok, I'm having a problem with Overdrive/Kobo. Would some of you other Overdrive folks who have the KA1 test out this scenario with your devices/libraries?

I've successfully checked out books via my PC and they they were synced to the KA1. All fine and dandy. However, these books were also available in the Kobo bookstore for purchase. They were very popular books like Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book, Helen Simonson's The Summer Before the War and so forth.

I checked out a library book from my library and I cannot get it to sync to my KA1. It's just not showing up. The only thing I can find is that Kobo does not sell this book directly via their bookstore. The book is Land Girls by Angela Huth, for reference. (Kobo sells the next book in the series, but not the first).

Can we only check out books from out library's Overdrive which are also in the Kobo bookstore?

I believe that is the case. Books have to be in both OverDrive AND the Kobo store.

That's been my experience as well. It seems the book is actually coming from Kobo as they show in my Kobo library. I can't borrow a library book through Overdrive that is not also available in the Kobo store so back to the download and sideload with ADE for those.

I'm having a problem with Overdrive I have not read about. When I register on Overdrive with the Kobo setup, I provide my overdrive account details which is fine. It then asks me to login to my library with my library card, but when I choose my library (Ottawa public library) it says that this login is not supported with this library.

At this point I am stumped. I can take books out of my library using the overdrive account I have on my iPad. Is the Ottawa public library really not supported only on Kobo?

Has anyone else encountered this kind of issue? I would love to figure out how to get this to work.

There was some fine print somewhere that not all libraries support the overdrive integration on the A1, but you're the first Canadian library I've heard of with someone running into this.
