HD Fire 10" OS ...Space

Yep I had Several Movies & TV shows added ugh I turned off the on Deck & they vanished but the space didn't change. I rebooted Twice to see if that would help. Maybe if I leave it a few days it give me back my space.

Katie, I think maybe the best thing to do would be to revert to factory. Then IF the updates takes an unreasonable time. I would take it back to Best Buy and demand the Geek Squad take a look. I have all 7 Audubon apps plus Sibley Birds,iBird Pro, and Birds of NA. All the Audubon apps and other birding apps have large files to download and I understand they will take time to download and Install, but IF the FACTORY reset would fix the problem that would fix the problem. I think without the factory reset you may be just spinning your wheels to more frustration. Like I said if the updates take an hour per update that would be w a y to long so back to Best Buy. Once a firmware is installed it doesn't download again. So the only thing she have to download is content.

Breathlady----My Best Buy Geek Squad sucks. I took my Laptop in [years ago] I needed a new DVD Drive since I got it the way they saw it as long as a paper clip would open it its Not Broke 11 months later That didn't even work! So I took it back again. They packed it up & shipped it to KY. 2 weeks later it came back DVD drive Fixed BUT the Broke off the ESC key & did some thing to the mouse pad...was dull & sticky. Goodness knows what they do to the Fire.

Blossom--- IF the OS is DL the reason I take it back to Factory & you are saying it wont DL again I am Confused! Hows going back to factory going to Fix it & give me back my space?

A factory reset will wipe out pretty much everything downloaded.
So yes you should try.
Now as to your Geek squad, how long ago was it you used them?
If more than 3 months, then you cannot know if they are good or bad.
It is rare if you would get the same squad.

Now what do you have to lose by trying a factory reset?
You don't seem to be able to really use it now.

What is your ISP download speed? It sounds like it may be slow compared to normal.

You are missing mushrooms. Are you an out doors person? I am an avid birdwatcher and have volunteered at a local ornithology center the last 9 years.

Have you tried to reset to factory? I still think that is the way to go. You mentioned you deleted the movies Amazon auto downloaded..that would not have saved but a few bytes of onboard memory as they should have been placed on your SD memory card.

Comcast Economy 3.54mps

Maybe next time I go to McD to DL Updates. I don't have problems with anything else. 2 PC, Fire Phone, Several Sparks & Ruku, Printer & PW3 ALL on Wifi None give me problems like this dang Fire 10.

No Havent taken it back to factory. I deleted the Audibon Collections re-downloaded the apps but not the rest.
IF it wont go back to Factory & re-load the updates again then I don't know how going to factory will help. When it finally DL the current update I received 4 Notices that they DL. So that's 3 updates too many stuck on it.

I love going out into the woods so see many kinds of mushrooms, that is why I have the app.

I still think you have a REAL problem with the Fire...maybe an app was installed wrong. Who knows, but your are still having problems. I know apps take time to install but after months of frustration I would tether my Fire to my computer and move PDF's and my book files to a folder on the computer and then do FACTORY.

You made a statement earlier that you got an update that would move books to your SD card weeks before the update to very latest update. I DID NOT get that portion and wondered how you have received it. I realize you still have about 6 months your HD is a year old, but think you don't have that much to loose by doing FACTORY. If the updates take that long then back to Best Buy with some ammo for them to either fix or replace.

I had a horrible experience with BB ruining a laptop such a l o n g story, was under warranty when I took it in BUT by 3rd time they said it was fix it was no longer under warranty. They actually broke some of the plastic vents on the bottom...CD rom would not work and I took it in for a touch screen problem that was never fixed.. Since that time I NO longer spend my money there!

My bottom line is go FACTORY if you come up with the outrageous 17G of OS, HD 10 is BAD...raise lots of noise or contact BB home office, I think it is in MN.
