Harry, Apple doesn't advertise Ibooks here in the US either. It is all direct email, websites or your Ithing. I know I've been getting regular emails ever since they swapped out my failing ITouch (about 2 months ago).

Yes, an ePub bookstore. A very good one, too. I'm sorry to see it go.

Apple appears to be #2 in ebook sales in the US, well ahead of B&N, Kobo, and Google. I would expect it is similar in the UK, despite lack of 'visibility' in terms of advertising. iBooks is pre-installed on every iOS device, and it is the only reading app which has in-app purchasing.

Yes.
The stors pre-dated the Amazon deal.

You can reuse your old password, it's more like a re-registration.

I found only two books in my library as Waterstones UK at some point refused to sell me more due to their interpretation of Geo-restrictions.

Given who's involved, it might be safer to check if all books are downloaded and refuse the transfer lest an existing Kobo library gets corrupted. >:-)

I've had absolutely no problems with any of the 3 store transfers to Kobo (Whsmith, Sony & Blinkbox), so not expecting any problems this time.

Actually, the move to Kobo actually restored access to the books bought from WHsmith, hadn't been able to re download, due to a date bought discrepancy in my Whsmith library.

Same with me. It will be interesting to see if the two books still transfer.

Fortunately they are Alfed and in Calibre

I had my email today from Waterstones with a link to transfer my books to Kobo.

The link worked and my 4 books transferred fine and appear in my Kobo library.

I got my email from them today as well. (From donotreply@waterstones.com)

The four books in my Waterstones account transferred just fine. A much better experience than the mess that was the B&N->Sainsbury transfer.

My single book transferred fine.

I had lost download access to this book (although I have a backup) years ago when Waterstones decided to geo-restrict their store and locked out download access for me from the US, but I now have the ability to download it again if the need occurs.

Once again very impressed with the easy transfer of books to Kobo.
All 25 books transferred, including a couple Waterstones had previously removed from my library

I'm impressed. It actually worked and my whole two books transferred to Kobo without any problem at all.
