Did you know many KU books are free to buy once in a while.

Works on free books too. Most of my Amazon books are freebies. I also get the one book per month from the Kindle lending library but don't strip the drm from those.

Yes. For me it is too much worry to wait until something is free to purchase. If I want it now, I am going to get it now - if it is not free to buy it just gets borrowed. When I look at library books I will usually filter out any books that have a waiting list and see if I can borrow one right away.

The Kindle lending library overlaps with KU to some extend. So I usually don't look at that - the terms of KU suit me better. Won't strip DRM from KLL, just the Kindle First books that you get to keep and don't cost anything extra.

How very odd! The "back" button works just fine in the iOS Kindle App. Removing such a useful navigational tool from the Android App seems like a very strange decision.

I just tried on my HD 8 and it works the same as the Android app. Or doesn't work.

That's really strange. It works just fine on both K4PC and the iOS app. Goodness knows why they'd remove it from the Android/Fire versions of the app. It's a decision that seems to make no sense.

It was also very annoying if you had clicked a bunch of links. If you tried to use the back button to exit, you needed to hit back the number of times you used links before you could exit. This also lost your place in the book. I guess Amazon wasn't smart enough to figure out how to fix this and just got rid of it completely.

I think it's because of what I said above and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Either way you lose your place in the book.

Most cell phones are not as fragile as a Kindle. A Kindle screen is easier to break than most cell phones screens.

Oh, it's definitely true. The toughened glass screens of phones are much tougher than the fragile substrate of an eink screen. It takes almost nothing in the way of a bending force to fracture an eink screen's substrate. Phones are much tougher.

Mantano displays a return button after you tap in the center of the screen. Amazon just needs to want to do it and they obviously don't think it's necessary.
But does Moon+ remember the history and associate it with the book so if you leave by any means (including Home) even while reading a footnote , read another book, then go back to the first book, the back button still takes you back from notes to the text ?

FBReader does. Moon+ only displays an arrow on the screen that disappears if you even turn the page. But at least it has something. Here's a screenshot of FBReader with the book I used when I posted yesterday. It still has the links I went to.

The Kindle's "back" button works on your reading history, not per book, so if you're reading book A, go to the home page and open book B, then select a hyperlink in book B to view a footnote, tapping the back button once will take you back to where you tapped the hyperlink from, and tapping back again will take you back to book A.

Is this an eink device or the ios app?
