Thanks for the info. Seems comparable to Canada's pricing. Here the Kobo Glo HD is $129 & the H20 is $179, so $299 for the Kindle Voyage is really a premium price.

That's without tax. Add 13% to that in Ontario. So with tax, it would cost
$339 vs $202 for the Kobo H20. The difference is more than I paid for my Glo HD on sale at Staples.

That makes it almost exactly the same as the UK price. The Voyage in the UK costs £169.99, which is C$335 at today's exchange rate.

And I see that the UK Voyage already comes without 'special offers', unlike the basic Kindle or the Paperwhite.

I think the main reason for the high price relative to the Paperwhite in Canada is the fall in the Canadian dollar over the past few years - from parity to around CA$1.35 to US$1.00

That does seem reasonable. Amazon are generally pretty good at "like for like" pricing in different regions. Taking VAT into account, all the recent UK Kindle releases have been the same price as in the UK, to within a few $.

I hadn't realised that the Canadian $ had weakened so much. When I was last in Canada, some years ago, it was on a par with the US$.

I just browsed some DVDs at Amazon UK, and it says one price before I add it to my cart, and another when I view it in my cart.

Oh strange, never mind, direct links still bring me to the sale page, but it doesn't come up in my search on amazon.ca any more at all... strange, might just be on my end.
