@booklover6: On fw 5.6.5 Collection View looks basically just like a normal "sorted by recent" cover view, but collection are listed first followed by books that are not part of any collection. So you can for example clean up your (and have smaller number of pages to scroll) Home page/ cover view by having just one collection "read" and all the other books. So if you have like 100 read books on your Kindle and 15 to be read you have only like 3 pages / 16 cover ("read" collection + 15 books) instead of 100/6 pages of covers you would get with regular cover view sorted by recents.

@shamanNS: thanks, sounds like the same as it was before cloud collections. (That's when I quit using collections on kindles).

Once you go into collections you get book covers, with a small banner in the upper corner that says "New" or gives a percentage of the story read. I have only six collections on it, then remove the book I'm reading so it's outside the folders. That way I can find it quickly. List view is the same as it always was, just the different font. |

I only like the reading lists…but you can't actually add books to it. I wish there was a favorites list.
I have sent an email to Amazon, but I was suggestive. |

Does anyone know how to tweak the settings for the new Voyage update so that it displays books and collections the way it previously did? Currently, I can only see either everything on the Kindle whether or not it's in a collection or just my collections. I really liked the previous view, which showed both my collections (books I wanted tidied out of the way) plus all the books I hadn't put into collections. (Library books I'm currently reading.)
I find it bizarre that they've changed this to be more like one of the most annoying facets of the Nook Touch... Last edited by willaful; 02-23-2016 at 07:59 PM. |

To get what I believe you want select: "downloaded" on the left, "all items" in the middle drop down, and "collection" in the right drop down.

I kinda get what the OP is saying. I've been hoping for a while that Amazon would revamp the style of the OS. I'm used to stuff from apple where they always have one eye on design and the other on functionality (even if i don't always like the design, it's still better than most other companies) and the kindle interface is just so bland. You can still have ease of use and good looks in one.
I got my hopes up with the tiny screenshot i got in my email for the Feb update with more covers on the homepage and whatnot, but then I come to find out only one is from my library. The rest are pretty much junk (to me). I rarely (if ever) buy books through amazon and rarely use goodreads since nobody else i know reads much and the few that do don't use the service. So having a third of my homescreen UI taken up by that really doesn't help me much. Rather than turn the whole homescreen thing off, I'd rather just be able to have different, more useful content in those sections. But I guess I'm not an average consumer. Maybe the kindle just needs more personalization options in general. On another note, have any of you guys had trouble updating and keeping your jailbreaks? My OTA update hasn't happened and I was going to manually update, but i thought i should find out about this issue first (and see how people were liking the update) |

Oh, I also don't think there should be ANY flat out ads once you've PAID to remove advertising. I love that they offer a discount on the upfront cost of the kindle and that you can pay to remove the ads down the line, but once you do, you shouldn't be stuck with blatant advertising (or having to disable multiple other features of the homepage just to avoid that one bit of ad space)

I liked it at first but after a few weeks I got fed up as everytime I added a new book to my library the large tile changed to the new book, it didn't stay on the book I was actually reading. I liked the update as it made my Voyage look more like my Kobo but it's a waste of time so I've turned it off.
