I considered that, but it's likely to be fairly busy and so a) wouldn't want anything to happen to it by carrying it around a crowded tent (if you got shunted and dropped it then that would be it) and b) a small black-covered organiser thing could be fairly inobtrusive (particularly if it IS busy)
The possible resolution to both of the above is to wave them over our heads, but again, not sure I would be comfortable with that.
At the very least, will probably be able to post what I'm wearing.
Will give other possibilities due consideration

how to find each other is a good question, particularly in the midst of a book festival !! so at lazyscot's suggestion i've made a pdf of the mobileread logo which can be printed out so all mr members can easily be identified even among a billion other avid readers ! it's in A4 format but can easily be printed smaller (or even larger, if you want !). there's space underneath to add a message of your own if you want.

find it in the first post of the meetup guidelines sticky.

i was going to make a comment about choosing this option depending on chances of mud, possible cold / rainy weather, dangers of wandering around with eyes always down, etc., and then i remembered that "thong" in english does not necessarily mean the same as "thong" in french.

although now that i think about it the same observations could apply to the other kind of thong as well, i suppose !

Yeah, think they're thongs in Australia too.... was very concerned during an episode of Australia's Next Top Model where they were all berated for turning up in their thongs and took me a while to figure out what was going on.
Having said that, I've known a few American's get slapped for complementing women on their pants.

oh, and i'm pretty sure you're right about thongs in australia : marc is constantly talking about his thongs, and we know he doesn't wear any underwear at all, so he must be referring to the footwear.

Thanks to Zelda, I'll make sure (assuming I remember!) we have a poster (or two) of the MobileRead Logo with us. From memory the LRB tent is a little less hectic, so it shouldn't be too bad to meet up in (and in previous years has had outside tables). The Spiegeltent later on might be a different matter.....

As for the thongs, I shall respectfully decline. There are decency laws and we don't want to scare anyone away. Also, anyone making reference to "fur coat and nae knickers" will be ignored!

I got round to checking the food at the LRB tent -- it looks like it is basically sandwiches or cake (*). There are salads available from a different bar across the way in the BookShop Tent, that you could take across. If you are here earlier, you may be able to get some soup or stoup from the Speigeltent, but I think that finishes about 6pm.

If you're planning on coming it would be good if you drop me a note/private message (with an idea of the time you hope to turn up) so that I can grab a large enough table, if you haven't already.

I'll try and upload so pictures of the venue over the weekend. We have had a bit of rain of later here, though we've also had, sun, gales and well, typical Edinburgh weather.

(*) Is there a queen handy who can say "let them eat cake"?
