I had misread your first post somehow. I thought you were talking about the PW3, which does have shorter battery life.
I've had 2 Kindle 3's and I currently have a Paperwhite 1 and a Paperwhite 2 and both get the same sort of battery life as my Kindle 3's used to get. It's only the Voyage and the PW3 that get less battery life. Barry |

No Harry they Never gave me a Choice. They didn't say they were replacing the PW2 with a Refurbished one ...they said New. Their solution was to refund my money...mine was 1 Not getting charged the last payment of $21.80. After this Tech left me hanging while he checked with some one else was to come back Tell me to send it back for refund. ... That Floored me!
I Still need to replace the K3 Having a hard time reading on it. Bad Eyes. I added M-Edge light Last year to it but they died Quick! I was changing batteries every 4 Hours! PW was great till it crashed! Then this mess. CS at Amazon has gone down hill. Its like they gave Great Service till they got so big ..now treat the customer like Dumb Door Mats. & We have to except what they want us to. [vent over] I was thinking of the Kobo Glow ...if that's the one with lights. But cant find anything about it or Kobo return policy. Yes I been reading their forum. I cant find any thing eles like the PW or Kobo glow to check out ![]() |

The Kobo Glo HD is a good choice (IMHO). The battery is rated to last 2 months. But then, it's probably the same sort of reading for 30 min a day with no light. But even still, it will last longer than the PW3 before needing to be charged. Two advantages Kobo has over Amazon is many more font sizes and the ability to side load the fonts of your choice. Plus, with the patches, you can set the font sizes as you want and enable the advanced font control so you can increase or decrease the font weight as you see fit It works with most TTF fonts. So for eyes that need something other than you can get from a Kindle, you can get what you want/need.
I have seen/used a PW3 and the screen is good. But it is the same settings as you got with your PW2. Last edited by JSWolf; 12-14-2015 at 07:21 PM. |

I've not read much about bright spots on the Glo HD. The Glo HD comes with 4GB of ram. But, from what I have read, it is very easy to open the case and access the SD card You can then clone the SD card onto a larger one and have even more storage.

It's got 4GB of storage of which about 3.1GB is usable. The internal storage is on a micro SD card as opposed to soldered directly to the mainboard. Some folks have popped the case open and switched out the 4GB card for a larger one (cloning the original card with the OS on it to the new card). Last edited by AnemicOak; 12-14-2015 at 09:21 PM. |

If it's not convenient to get up and charge your device you might want to consider a portable charger that you can keep on your night stand. You can even use them to charge while reading.
I have one on my nightstand for an MP3 player so I can listen to an OTR show in the middle of the night if I wake up and if the battery dies I don't have to get up to keep going. It works out nicely and I can listen just fine while charging it. The charger I have is about the size of a deck of cards and I have charged my Kindle with it a few times. I never tested it but charging the Kindle took about the same amount of juice from it that charging the MP3 player does and it can charge that player several times. It also charges pretty quickly.
