Already read Vlad Taltos, love that series. Anything similar to this is definitely what I am looking for.

Not really similar, but have you tried Glen Cook's Garrett, P.I. Series?

Not fantasy, but Timothy Zahn's science fiction _Ikarus Hunt_ has a lot of the same feel.

This may not be your style, but Robert Aspirin has a series (beginning with Another Fine Myth) where a novice magician unexpectedly loses his mentor and has to muddle through a sequence of dangerous events with minimal skill.

The primary emphasis of the series is on humor rather than cleverness, but Skeeve comes up with some pretty nifty ideas now and then.

I enjoyed the series, and they are now available in ebooks. His Phuel (sp?) series was also a lot of fun. Like a lot of mid tier writers, he tends to carry a series a bit too long. The first 5 or 6 of the Myth series was pretty good. The rest were kind of bley in my personal opinion.
