Ultimately there are no differences. Either way it inconveniences the user. And isn't "an internal defect" a "weakness"? You probably live right next to your Kobo seller so you can swap all you want. *shrug*

Since I last posted here a second line has appeared. I don't live anywhere near where I bought the device so I will have wait when I next visit there for a possible exchange.
You should contact them anyway, maybe you could post the device to them, first sending pictures to show the fault. I can't imagine it will get any better, just progressively worse.
