There is always someone who is first to have a good (or bad) idea. Having more foresight than others is not necessarily a bad thing. Someone had the effrontery to invent the wheel.
But in this case I can't claim to be the first who wants to edit content on his Kindle. A simple search on the web for "edit kindle content" will result in close to 4 million hits. MobileRead Forums itself had posts for "Tools for Editing Kindle .mobi Files? as early as Mar 13, 2009. And I do not expect my Kindle to make my coffee, or inflate my car tires. What I do expect of any product that is does what it claims it was designed for. The Kindle (DX) design has always envisioned the capability to create, store, and manage your own documents. After all there must be some reason Amazon included a keyboard on the device. I'm quite content to do my own work and edit, manage the documents on the Kindle. And to that end I'm very grateful of others for creating tools such as Calibre to make that feasible. Thanks for your suggestions "mbovenka" regarding the issue how to improve conversions and editing on the DX. Last edited by Book Reader; 07-27-2015 at 11:50 AM. |

That, and the transparent fact that the keyboard is for providing input to hundreds of dialog boxes. Everything from the search field on the Kinde Store, to searchng your books, to taking notes... even logging ino the device.
A Kindle is *slightly* more complicated than a handheld solitaire machine. It needs a keyboard... That being said, as repeatedly mentioned, calibre has a very nice editor, where editors belong -- on the desktop. ![]() |

I'm a new user of Kindle and looking for help, ideas, suggestions, and not for put downs by people who want their way or the highway! Most chat room guidelines suggest civil and useful information exchange. I've learned nothing from the negative comments published here except to avoid asking questions.

I apologize if we seemed harsh. It is simply a fact that there is no demand for or implementation of ebook editors that run on an ereader device.
Also we are slipping offtopic. ![]() |
