Kobo Glo Refurb took 11 days to arrive in North Carolina

Ordered directly from the Kobo website on April 4, received immediate email confirmation of the order. Hearing nothing further, I requested a status update on April 14 through their CS page and received a response by email on April 15 with a tracking number for Canada Post showing that the delivery had taken place that same day. So I was ultimately satisfied with the experience in that I got the item I paid for just about when expected (7 to 10 days)... This is the email:

Thank you for contacting Kobo Customer Care.

You contacted us in regards to the your Kobo Glo order status.

In order to assist you with this issue, we have tracked your order and found it delivered.

However, we have included the tracking number which is CXXXXXXXXXXCA and carrier is canadapost.

We apologize for the delay in the response and for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Your reference number is XXXXXX-XXXXXX

For general inquiries please visit us at http://www.kobo.com/help
I have received fairly brisk and satisfactory responses from Kobo Customer Care whenever I have had an issue with buying ebooks. This is my first Kobo device and I am VERY happy with it @ US$79 (free shipping). That's my 2 cents!

As requested:
  • Wednesday, 4/22: ordered Aura H2O from Kobo. Received order confirmation immediately.
  • Friday, 4/24, 10:36 am: I contacted Kobo customer support via their "Contact Us" form asking them to provide tracking information on my order.
  • Friday, 4/24, 4:21 pm: Received response from customer support informing me that they "have escalated this to our direct order team and they will response you within 24-48 business hours." Note that this clearly specified "business hours." Due to this I didn't expect any information over the weekend.
  • Monday, 4/27, 9:49 am: Received email from Kobo, Tier 2 of Direct Orders, informing me that my order had already shipped and giving me the Canadian Post tracking number. A check on USPS.com tracking shows that the item arrived at my local post office today at 7:55 am and is scheduled for delivery today.

So, while they didn't send me the tracking number automatically, they were acceptably prompt in getting back with me and did provide the tracking number in their response. Also, tracking shows that they shipped the next day after I ordered, which is fine as well. All in all, I'm satisfied with their response. Now I have to get home before the wife and get it hidden so that she doesn't find it before Mother's day.

@dow - Thanks for providing details on Kobo's shipping. That was faster than I would have expected.

Was a signature required? And what kind of packaging did they use? Plain brown box? Padded envelope? Something else? Thanks!

Signature is required. Don't know about packing, as I wasn't home. I signed the receipt and requested that they deliver it anyway. Maybe they'll drop it off today. maybe tomorrow, depending on whether they bring it back out today or not. I"m sure that the packing will be just fine, as it's in their best interest for the reader to arrive in good shape.

If I recall correctly my H2O arrived in a white padded envelop. Though they did not require a signature from me. Which actually bothered me as I was home when they dropped it off and I didn't know it'd been delivered for a few hours.

Oops. Sorry that I didn't get this updated sooner. The reader did arrive safely, and like MGlitch said, it arrived in a white padded envelop. My wife loves it.

Hello dow....because it shipped from Canada, were you charged an import fee? Also, what about U.S. taxes, how do they calculate them? I am trying to decide who to order my Kobo Aura H20 from....and I would have thought that buying directly from Kobo would eliminate the import fee, because they do say Kobo USA on their website. I am confused Thank you for your help....
