No, I think it is very bad. The thing I miss a lot is a sense of how long the "book" is that I am reading and how much I have read. Not having that destroys my reading experience of short stories.

But Bookeen seems to not have so many programmers and the ones they have have not impressed us with their competence.

I never earmark books... I always use a book mark. The books last longer that way. I don't think I would be able to remember what page I last was on, espesially when reading several books.

Yep. Go over a certain "page-count" and that automatically happens. It's a 'boundary' error. Known bug. But clearly not yet fixed. I think it happens around a page-count of 2048 or higher. (Guess the creators never read "Atlas Shrugged". )

I don't have a cybook, but used to read MobiPocket books on my Palm and an ancient Franklin eBookMan. The page numbering system (or lack there of) in MobiPocket books is something that really irritated me. I do appreciate that the Sony Reader handles this aspect much better!

Yes, I am indeed accepting the current situation. The progress bar is plenty good enough for me.

It has something to do with how you read. I really couldn't care less. The bar is enough for me. Page numbers are irrelevant to me. I never look at them in a p-book either.

I find a better way to sort the books in the library much more important

Well, i would like to have pagenumbers, because they give me an estimate of the thickness of the book. While the actual page number is of only secondary concern, i would like to have some kind of related value to that thickness. 5% of 100 pages is just not quite the same as 5% of 1000 pages.

Exactly. I do not care about the exact page number but the thickess of the book and how much of the thickness you have read is very important.

i'd like page numbers because when it's late at night, i might stay up to read 10 or 20 pages, but with the cybook, i end up reading 50 or 100 and missing sleep because i have no real frame of reference of how much more reading is left to go.

The problem with Mobipocket reader is that it has bugs that are just getting passed down to new releases. They are not bothering to fix them when they create new versions of the software. So the Gen3's page number bug stems from that being a long standing bug that Mobipocket has not yet bothered to fix. It seems they just port it as is bugs and all.
