I bought several covers and sleeves for my kindles. I don't use any of them as I prefer the feel and lighter weight of the naked kindle. I do have a skin from Decalgirl just because I like the look. When I go out I put the kindle in a quilted oven pad in my bookbag. It's easier to get it out of than either of the sleeves I bought and protects it just as well. I won't be buying any more covers esp since each new kindle is a different size/shape and would need a new cover.

BTW go to http://www.oberondesign.com for some absolutely gorgeous and pricy leather cases. I love mine.
They have these modern things now, they're called "carpets". Nice on the feet and protect dropped Kindles.

I have a case for each of my readers, as I find this protects them. I read in bed every night and my readers have fallen on the floor more than once.
One or more of my readers is always with me wherever I go (in my purse, tote bag or luggage). I agree a naked reader is lighter in weight, but for me, the added protection a case offers is well worth the added weight.

I make a practice of putting a pillow on the floor where the kindle could be dropped. I was doing that even before the drop, but that night, I forgot. My bad.

The point I really wanted to make is that kindles are fragile. I was about a 2 and 1/2 foot drop that broke the screen. That's why I don't think a case is an optional accessory.

I'm with you on that, I've even watched mine tumble down a (carpeted) flight of stairs without damage thanks to its case. I wouldn't recommend trying that though, I thought it was a goner.

I neglected to say that I also use the sleeve for my Kobo Glo. The glo is a tad shorter than the Kindle, but presents no issues whatsoever.

I'll probably end up buying another one, to take care of both readers at the same time.
A little off-topic, but do you know if it would fit the Kobo Aura? I'm on the fence about getting a Kobo Aura or HD (not sure which, yet).

Getting back on topic, I also have a Fintie Folio (see link below), that works really well as an inexpensive case for my PW. I do use that when I fly, instead of the sleeve. It is recommended as an alternative to the official Amazon case.

I don't own the Kobo Aura, so I can't say for certain. However, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The question is this: At what point is a reader too small for this sleeve? For example, my Mini fits in that sleeve, but it looks horrible because there is too much room.

I own a Kobo Aura HD, and the HD will not fit: The reader is too big for the sleeve.

--- The Fintie looks like a nice case for the PW.

I ended up buying the PW case when I bought the PW1, and then ended up trading that reader in to Amazon when I bought the PW2. I kept that original case because the form factor size is exactly the same.

I'm feeling downright unlucky because it only took one drop from a much lower hight on to a hard wood floor to put a 1/4 crack in the screen. Their test was to drop on to concrete, which I presume is harder then a hard wood floor.

I accept their results, but I've also got my own, personal, unwilling test to convince me I need a case. BTW, the oberon cases are beautiful works of art. Pricy (about $75) but not over priced.

When you buy from amazon.com and ship to Peru, how they charge your shipment fee? I assume it is very expensive

I have dual residency in both the US and in Peru.

Whenever I order something physical from Amazon, I have it shipped to my home address in the U.S. I usually go home on Christmas, except for an emergency situation when my father passed away in April.

I just realized that I did have my Kobo Mini shipped to Peru - from the U.S. first and then my sister shipped it to me in Peru - but it arrived when I made that emergency trip in April. The whole shipping took less than 3 weeks, if I remember correctly (that time is still kind of a haze right now), and I can't even remember what it cost. I had some books also shipped to me in the same small package.

I have had a RadTech fabric sleeve for both my MacAirs and I just bought one for my PW2. It doesn't have any padding but does protect the device from scratches when it's in my bag. http://www.radtech.us/products/sleev...le-sleeve-case

When I need more cushioning, I use the Dockem sleeve that Dr. Drib provided the link to. I bought the PW2 because it was small and light and I just can't see doubling its weight with some of the cases that are available.

As I often read I public transport, I use a book style cover. Then I can just flip it shut and put it in my like I would do with a hardcover, when getting off and on a bus or train.
