i wanted the kindle edition, which i found.

but it took some searching, because whenever i went to that page, i thought not the online help page, again. not realising that's were you download the manual.

A few days ago I came to the calibre forum intending to start a thread entitled

calibre Manual for Dummies - help please

but found this thread instead. I've tried every suggestion in this thread, and have clicked on every part of the opening screen of the online manual without success. Clicking on the link calibre User Manual does nothing at all for me; it certainly does not enable me to download the manual.

This afternoon I did a google search and came across (in one of many MR threads asking how to download the manual) the link

and was able to download the manual.

Two questions.
- Is there any way of being able to determine from the manual what version of the manual it is, or when it was last upated?
- To repeat a request I've seen before would it be possible to make the above link a sticky? Or to put it another way: given the several threads where people ask how to download the manual is there any reason to not make it a sticky?

Sony users may like to know that the manual won't run on the Sony desktop reader; but it does run on my T2 and T3.

The online manual at the end of the introductory paragraphs (just before the list of sections) has the sentence

An ebook version of this user manual is available in EPUB format, AZW3 (Kindle Fire) format and PDF format

with the text for each format type being a download link for that format. Not sure how you missed that?

No easy way that I know off. You could peek inside the epub version (by treating it as a zip file) and look at the dates of the contained files, but I think that there are updates most weeks, with the scale of the update depending on what happened development wise during the week. That means that looking inside the epub is not really of use unless you want to determine how old a copy you already have actually is. You should probably just downloaded an updated version periodically.

@AlexBell - For the PDF version at least, the front page works for me, see attachment. My understanding is that the manual is updated with every release, some updates are automatic.

Thanks, itimpi. I said the thread I intended to start was calibre Manual for Dummies. I got the idea from somewhere that the link was in the blue panel on the left, and was obsessed with searching there.
