This is interesting because I'ven't installed the fanfictiondownloader plugin and this txt-file doesn't exist.
You're definitely running v1.12 then. I don't know how or why, but that version's executable is clearly being run instead of the v1.30. Perhaps the contents of your PATH environment variable would shed a little light on the subject. Also helpful would be the exact path that your calibre shortcuts are pointing to.

And did not the folder that the Calibre executables reside in change from "Calibre" to "Calibre2" at some stage since ver 1.12? I don't recall for sure though, so am open for correction on that .

If so your PATH comment could be particularly relevant. Also there could be further confusion if both folders exist in Program Files and/or Program Files (x86) folders on C:.

@Buecherfan - Process Explorer/Task Manager should be the same, they look at the same data. So it is really weird - I don't have any explanation. But just in case... and to remove any nagging doubts, it only takes a second to check via Task Manager.

As others have said you can safely un-install and re-install calibre and you wont lose libraries or configuration data - but as with all thing, backups are advisable.

I disagree with theducks - I am a big fan of Windows Search for searching indexed locations, but IMO its hopeless at finding files more generally.

I use Agent Ransack to find files by name, extension etc. A lot of people prefer Everything because its faster, but like Windows Search it builds indexes - of 'every bloody thing'. Agent Ransack is slower but it searches what's actually in the file system directories now, rather than what's in an indirect index of the directories taken at some unknown point in time past.

And as others have said - look at your PATH Environment Variable, with luck that should tell you where 1.12 is hiding. If you only want the 64 bit version then you only need something like C:\Program Files\Calibre2.

After doing a lot of research with your advice I think something really strange must have been happened (is this correct English?).

Yes, the program folder was and is Calibre2. The appdata folder is calibre.

You all have resured me that I can safely un-install and re-install calibre and so I did it. It worked out quite well. Everything seems to be in place I'm happy about that. Thank you!

Windows Search was indeed not helpful. I found the folders on my own before, but I couldn't figure out a file that had caused the problems. Unfortunately I've made the update before I've checked the PATH. I'm sorry.

I still think this was really weird. I hope next week's update will work. I'll have a look on it. Now I've installed 1.31.

I'm delighted how much help I've got. Thank you to all of you.

Glad you got it all worked out!

Your English is outstanding, by the way.

@Buecherfan - There's no need to be concerned about your written English, it's better than some whose mother tongue is English

Suggest you check your PATH now and get rid of any 'rubbish' that's in there.

Cheers BR

You would have a problem convincing me that English was NOT your frequently used language.

To your success

Ah, so just an instant in time according to AnotherCat's Dilation of Time Theory where time passes more quickly with the gravitas of increasing age.

An important advance on Einstein's General Relativity where time passes more quickly with decreasing gravity but ignores the effects in the frame of reference of the aging mind .

The PATH variable looks fine.

Thank you all for your kind words about my English. I'm glad that the efforts I've put in in the last years pay off now. And I'm really happy that Calibre works fine. Calibre is unbelievable helpful. It is one of the most helpful tools I use.

I don't want to miss to tell you that now updates work fine, and show the correct version number.

I've just read this thread from start to finish.

THIS is what a MobileRead Forum, particularly the Calibre forum, is all about!

Congratulations Buecherfan, and well done everyone else.
