Another suggestion...if you are using a cover which enables the auto sleep function, be sure that the PW's light is actually turning off when the cover is closed. There is a glitch where sometimes the light stays on and this will chew through battery. Many ways have been offered to get past this, for me just doing a restart clears the problem.

How does downgrading affect the collections between devices, if others are on the cloud collections, but I downgrade to 5.4.0 will I lose my collections that are on the pw2? Will I have to jailbreak to downgrade? I am not looking forward to jailbreaking and doing a bunch of technical stuff that goes over my head but this battery draining thing is the last straw in the annoyances of the pw2 upgrade. Now that my collections are all setup, I've gotten used to the annoyance of the CCs but it is way beyond annoying to only get a few days out of my battery before it is half empty. I am thinking that having over 3000 books and 120 collections in my library is very draining since Amazon has the annoying habit of updating the servers every few minutes.

Jailbreak is required. Fortunately, the jailbreak is very easy. The downgrade has a guide, so hopefully the technical stuff can limit itself to going at head level. ![]() Here's the link(s) again: http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-images/PW2/README.txt images: http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-images/PW2/ First step is jailbreak, second step is install the rescue pack using the update_*.bin here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?p=2290044 Then download the images and follow the directions here: http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-images/README.txt but using different .gz files. The Kindle Developers corner is a nice place to find someone to guide you through it. ![]() Last edited by eschwartz; 02-13-2014 at 10:31 PM. |
