The customer service representative you engaged seems to have been a little ignorant or they would have directed you to MYK.

I was told repeatedly that they cannot delete the trashcan, which they consider to be a service to me. They said, if they weren't freebies, they could issue me a refund and thus permanently delete those items, but because they are freebies, they cannot go the refund route.

I can move anything I want into the trashcan (both from the MYK screen and from the YML), and they won't show in the cloud. Or, they did not use to, until this version of the iPad app. The app brought them all back: even though they are all gone from my Manage Your Kindle screen, they all show in my Kindle app?

We are talking 300+ books I had to delete, so doing it one by one would have taken me weeks if not months. If you follow the link in my orignal post, you will see that there, you can batch delete items, because you can check more than one book at a time. Just that they are never truly deleted: they stay in your trashcan for all eternity - and come back to your iPad via the cloud.
In my case, these are all free French classics. Imagine if this was erotica and I shared my account with a kid/parent/new flame!

Maybe you should take a look at http://massdestroykindleitems.com/ and http://pepa.info/check-and-delete/

They'll let you delete multiple items at once from MYK so they won't ever come back.

Right, but Harry was referring to deleting the Dictionaries and User Guides mentioned right above his post.

I'm not even sure what the purpose of the Media Library really is since you can't use it to do much management of your library. It's like they had this huge idea for a library management site/page and then never fully implemented it. Other than using the contact feature in the iPad app and the kindle-feedback@amazon.com email address to try and get them to undo whatever they did to the latest iOS app I'm not sure what one can do.

I don't consider using 3rd party code/scripts an option. No way would I allow someone else's server to have access to my account info. Amazon needs to create a desktop app for managing our libraries, and they need to rethink that damn Cloud Collection snafu.

Take a look at the js, it's not that complicated. And if you really want, put it in dropbox/google drive/bookmark location.

The second one is already hosted on googlecode, so I think that at least is safe...

Unless you want to wait for Amazon. Your choice, but it might take a while.

It doesn't work that way, Jack. You only get one set of dictionaries, no matter how many Kindles you have - or have had - registered to your account. I currently have 7 Kindles registered (Touch, PW1, PW2, K4PC, iPhone, iPad, and Windows 8 app), but only one set of dictionaries.

As I said, if they REALLY annoy you, you can ask Kindle Customer Service to remove them for you. Personally I'm not bothered by them. 11 dictionaries out of the 3500-odd items I have in my Kindle library is a drop in the ocean.

Maybe in the UK. But here we keep getting more crap albeit mostly user guides.

Yes, we get new User Guides. I was talking about dictionaries. You do NOT get duplicate sets of dictionaries with multiple devices.

I have many dictionairies in the MYK as well, for many languages, and I certainly did NOT add any of them myself. The Kindle may not come with the dictionairies installed, but it does have them in the media library.

If this is about duplicates, then no, I don't have those.

I think you'll find that you have something like 11 dictionaries. That's entirely normal.

The books I had deleted (which, as I found out, really only means that they were moved to my trashcan) are already gone from MYK, so would that be any different?

This iPad kindle app version brought all the items that are in my trashcan into my cloud library that gets displayed on my iPad, and only on my iPad, so not sure how those scripts would help, as it is not possible to completely deleted kindle books, and the iPad app seems to not differenciate between trashcan and non-trashcan books in my case.

Can anyone else here with the newest version of the iPad kindle app confirm if they see the same happening to them?

Yes, I think they had a plan for it once, but no longer have any use for it - it looks to have been abandoned mid-way. It's not a huge deal for me, but I wanted to see if I am the only one seeing this issue.

xendula, I would try to deregister the app and then re-register it. I had a problem with deleted books still showing and that fixed if for me. Although I delete individually via MYK and not the MediaLibrary workaround.

It seems if you delete from Media library it goes to trashcan there and is HIDDEN in MYK. Restoring it from trashcan, it shows up again in MYK. If you delete from MYK it's not in the trashcan, it's gone forever. I assume it wouldn't show up in the app then.

That's exactly how I found it to work. I ended up restoring the books from my trashcan in the media library so I could properly delete them in MYK..... unfortunately I lost the will to continue deleting them individually after about 30 books and approximately 15 minutes waiting for the MYK to refresh each time.

I am so tempted to try those mass delete bookmarklets, but I'm full agreement with jswinden's post about using 3rd party scripts on my account.
