I should expand on my previous statement and say that I never buy ebooks when they are at hardback prices. I'll always wait for the paperback release before buying the ebook, when the price falls. I have such a long TBR list that waiting a year is of no importance to me.

Probably 90% + of my purchases are £1.99 and below. But I've paid £5-6 for certain books that I knew I really wanted to read - although even then, I waited for them to come down in price first before buying. I'm on a fairly limited budget and I would never pay hardback prices, but then I didn't do that very often when I read physical books either.

My maximum to pay for ebooks is $7.99. Or maybe I should say was, since most of those that were that price as new books are now a little lower, even if its just 50 cents. The agency thingy. I only paid 9.99 for a book once in 5 years having my kindle.
But in reality, the average I pay is way less than 7.99 since I snap up stuff when it goes on sale. I have 100's of books on the watchlist so when the publishers have the sales, I stock up. Its not like they have an expiration date on it. This spring and summer has been especially good for sales. Many of the big publishers had sale after sale. When stuff was lowered to .99-2.99 I just snapped them up if they were on my lists. But if its something I want to read now, I have no problem paying 7.99. But not more. I'll either wait of get them from the library if they cost more. I read a lot so I have a book budget. I also supplement with the overdrive libraries I belong too. |

My price point for ebooks is probably around $8.99-$9.99. I've hardly ever paid more than that. Not paying $14.99 or more for new release books. I wait until the price goes down or borrow from the library.

Nope, I just download them. If I can't find an epub/mobi(or pdf as a last resort) of any book I'm looking for with a few minutes of googling, it's safe to assume that it hasn't been released as an ebook yet.

I buy Baen bundles to get the average price down.
I would occasionally buy a $6.99 single title, but now at $9.99 , forget it. I don't work for a government agency . My adjusted income has been going down every year. My book (and computer) budget is stuck in year 2K |

Why do you steal from authors? Don't you think that people who write books deserve to be paid for their work? You won't make any friends in these parts by telling people that you're a thief.

Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, a significant number of posts to this forum are ebook uploads. In fact that's how I found this forum to begin with - googling for an epub/mobi copy of something that I ended up downloading here. |

Lately I've been buying a lot in the $1-3 range, as well as Baen Bundles. As a rule I'm perfectly comfortable with paying up to MMPB price for most e-fiction because ebooks are much easier to read than paperbacks. If it's over $10 I'll generally wait for the price to drop unless I really want to read it now.
For me it's all about how badly I want to read it. The more I want the book, the more I'm willing to pay. |
