Stop pushing the storage to the cloud.
Stop removing facilities that people want. Text To Speech RULED!!! As did Audio Playback!!! Stop pushing updates without AT LEAST asking. Stop the ceaseless logging and dial-home noise and processor burn. I can think of a whole bunch of stuff "I DON'T WANT" anymore. The DO WANT list is much shorter... |

Same, I'm waiting for a paperwhite version with buttons. Amazon has got to realize there's a market out there for people who like buttons. A combo touch-screen for the x-ray stuff, looking up words etc but with buttons for page turns would be perfect.

buttons
That is the main reason I have not bought a PW also. An Ereader should not be a touch device. We want buttons, and yes, we do need stinkin buttons.

I presume Lordblacknail is meaning in terms of turning pages, since that's what the rest of us were talking about, and Sony and Barnes & Noble both still have page turn buttons on their touch screen ereaders, it's just Amazon and Kobo who haven't included them.

I agree, they should restore Text To Speech. I didn't use it much myself but I imagine it was useful for those readers who are vision impaired and if a person wants to listen to their ebook while out and about as well.

I have the feeling the next kindle will only be a slightly improved version of the kpw. More even light, maybe higher dpi. If so, I'll buy another kindke keyboard from eBay. Still the best. |

I suspect the way forward in the future will be a a purely hardware-platform oriented producer providing a feature-rich ereader. They will not sell books. They will only sell a platform. It will have to cost more. Logically, it will be an open Android platform. As E-ink screens improve, we will hopefully see e-ink tablets. This will revolutionize e-readers. |

I do not understand why no one ventures to make a full A4 sized reader. There is a huge market out there, i.e. anyone working with scientific publications. An easy way to mark and annotate texts would be quite useful as well, and to sync the annotations with the hard drive and possibly citation software.
At the same time, do any text editing programs exist for ebook readers? writing anything substantial probably does require a keyboard. |

More storage space. I like having my library on the Kindle instead of re-downloading. Storage is increasingly cheap, even flash-based storage.

For me too it's mostly about recovering what worked on the KK:
Other than that, the PW is quite nice. |

I think that since Amazon and Audible are together, I do not think they will be bringing back the text-to-speech. They are going to be pushing full-fledged audiobooks instead as they are now.
