don't know if they will, but if they do come up with something like this:

I'd stock on it for friends too!

I'd like to see a Mini-Glo with the SDHC & a higher resolution screen, but they'd really sell me if they'd allow for a global landscape mode!

With a smaller display a landscape mode could come in very handy.

I used to think, and to voice it very clearly too , that a Mini Glo would be my eReader of choice. I'm all for avoiding to have several devices to do one thing.

However with the launch of the Aura, the idea of having a small eReader I wouldn't worry too much about that I could carry everywhere AND having a bigger one with frontlit to read at home starts to make its way in my mind.

Now, I'm confused

I would have already bought the Kobo mini if it had a light. I loved my Cybook Opus, and still kick myself for trading it in for the discount on the T1 - should have just paid for the new battery.

My guess is if Kobo could keep the costs down enough to be very competitive. Maybe introduce it with all the same technical specs (or pretty darn close) as the original, but with glo.

And thus Mini Glo was born.

Kobo Mini w Glo, Higher res screen AND the faster processor of the GLOs and you'd have me sold. I could take or leave the SD Card slot.

Would it sync with the larger Kobos? (My cell phone is unreadable outdoors and I prefer eInk anyway.)

Just wondering. I'd buy a Mini Glo anyway.

Probably. All the current Kobo ereaders use the same firmware. That will allow the kepub to sync via the Kobo servers.

It does look different, though.

Looking at my Glo vs screen captures from the Aura, they look pretty different. The main screen, shelves, library, menus on the book, ...

The interface looks different, but the underlying code is the same. And even if it isn't, Kobo already sync the books between the devices and apps on Android and iOS devices.

Sorry, david, I missed the context of your post, I only read "All the current Kobo ereaders use the same firmware".

for anyone in the UK, there is a seller on ebay that is offering the Mini at £39.99 including poastage and packaging: I got one last night (present) and now it looks like five more have been sold - put the announcement here.

I was reading Kobo Mini in bed last night with the bedroom lights on. I dozed off for a few hours. When i woke up the lights were still on. So I support Mini Glo. I like reading KM in bed - its very light; KM lies securely in one hand (i have small hands); there are no folds and dips as with a bound physical book. I think the dictionary/definition pop-up screen could be bigger. Touchscreen is sensitive - I am still getting used to tapping the right spot accurately.
