It opened. Weird thing though, almost all my dedrmed books are in AZW3 format. I thought that meant that they still had DRM?

AZW3 is the file extension that certain "tools" give to all KF8 books when they're finished doing their work. It's often times the extension of KF8 ebook files downloaded directly to certain kindle devices, too.

There's really no direct connection between a file's extension and its DRMed status at all. There's barely a connection between the extension and the underlying Amazon format, truth be told. AZW3 is "always" KF8, but KF8 isn't always AZW3... sometimes it's just AZW.
