I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

My husband got a refurbished Kindle Fire and has no problems at all with it. Actually it is faster than my "new" Kindle Fire I got a few months ago.

I received my replacement Fire today, just 36 hours after customer service ordered it; can't complain about that service. So far everything seems to work okay.

Strangely most of the problems with the original fixed themselves after a couple of hard resets and charging overnight again. Gremlins at work?

It would have probably will given you more problems later down the line. I'm happy to see the new one is working great though!

Bad A$$ Battery Monitor works fine on my fire

Regarding the neverending ES File Explorer download issue the CO had, I had the same exact thing on my Fire, which is not a lemon, It was showing "downloading" in my que for months. Finally cleared it out by unistalling the app and doing a cold reboot.

I think it doesnt do a good job of cleaning up a download that got interrupted somehow and doesnt reset it or correct to re-synch to dl the full file it needs to properly install the app
