I went today to a used bookstore - to sell some books and CDs. Looked around to see if they had anything I wanted and couldn't get digitally - nope. Left with more money in pocket.

Other than a couple of airport shops - I have no idea. I don't think I was in one in 2011, so well over a year.

Over 18 months.
Borders. I was looking for a Sony reader for my cousin. And they were out of them. ![]() Books? Oh, yeah; lots of NYT bestselling disposable reads prominently featured, SF&F buried, nothing worth my attention either way. More troubling (to me) I haven't bought anything from SFBC in two years. (The few titles that catch my eye even faintly are invariably from the Price Fix Six, which instantly disqualifies them.) |

About a month or so ago I went to a Half Price Books, though it was to look for used board games. I came away empty handed.
Prior to that trip, honestly I really can't remember. |

Interesting question. I was in WHSmith last month. I like to browse bookstores when I am traveling overseas looking for items that I can't find here. I lasted visited B&N for Christmas gifts. Prior to that I can't remember when! Maybe in the summer when I wanted to see a Nook STR demo'ed? I bought a NOOKcolor in Nov 2010 and have never used the Read-in-Store feature. I used to go to Borders every Friday before my local store closed a year ago. I do very much miss that ritual.

It was a B&N to see the Nook after the firmware update that improved clarity and speed. And I believe it did. Not sure when that was late 2011?

This may sound horrible, but it was last century. I started ordering online from Amazon in the late 90's and switched to ebooks around 2005. Any technical books are still ordered online and all my personal reading is digital.

Had a look through the books in WH Smith and Waterstones I usually buy ebooks nowadays, but much prefer browsing books in a actual store instead of online |

I drop by used bookstores on a weekly basis. Constantly on the prowl for older non-ebook releases of classic sci-fi and horror that can be found no other way.
New release book stores get a visit about once every 3-4 months. Getting less as my wife and daughter get more comfortable with ereaders. |

I visit a bookstore a few times a month; I find it easier to find new books to read if I can physically browse the store. Of course, after browsing I just buy the epub version so I'm probably not a model customer from the bookstore's perspective.

I was in Waterstones yesterday - I still buy 'real' handcraft books because ebooks are no good for patterns/diagrams etc. But the book I looked at is £25 in the shop and £16 online so I came home and ordered from Waterstones online... |

books-a-million, night before last. Wife wanted to look at shoes in the store next door. I certainly wasn't going to go with her.
I browsed. felt a bit sad about the inevitable closure this nice store. browsed some more. hit on a hot chick. was rejected. thought about having a cup of coffee at the coffee bar. saw the prices. thought not. tried my luck with a less-hot chick. rejected again. browsed some more. left without buying anything. wife bought $200 shoes at the shoe place. She said they were too 'cute' to pass up. realized i should have got the coffee. |
