I gotta tell you, I have lived in Alberta for 11 years, and people seem to know I am originally from "down south" as soon as I open my mouth. I guess there is a difference

This quiz is great, it will tell you where your accent is from..

I got Neutral and here's what it said about neutral;

You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

Some would call it a news accent, turn on the news like C.N.N or Fox and most of the people have no Accent whatsoever.

I also posted this in the lounge.

Haha! Every time I hear CNN or Fox they definitely have an accent - it's not called a news accent in the rest of the world - it's called an American accent!

catz to change your email address you just need to log into your Kobo account (on the Kobo website) and then go to the "My Account" tab at the top (in pink letters) and you are taken to a page where you can change any details including your email address.

Obviously you do need to log in with your old email address first so even if that address is no longer valid you still just use it as a username to log in.

Ok, so by monday, I still had heard nothing.

It wasn't until the 31st did I finally get a form email asking to fill out details like address, model and what not.

Nov2nd, Received another canned response informing me the only option is for me to pay to ship them the broken kobo, and then if its not warranty covered, i'd be charged 59.99 to repair / replace.

I emailed them back asking for other options, because i'm not paying for shipping and for a repair to a known manufacturing issue

Is your Kobo still under guarantee? If it is, you would expect to get it repaired/replaced free. If not I can't really see that you've been treated badly. The device died on Friday, the next working day would normally be Monday. They sent the form out on the next working day. 2 days later you got their offer.
I agree that if the Kobo is under guarantee, they have given you a very bad deal. So is the guarantee still valid?

Your quite incorrect about that we in america in general very much identify with our specific regions midwesterners have a different identity than the pacific northwest, and the southwesterners, and the texans are neither southwesterners or "southerners" completly differently culture in the south and well as in the northeast.
While serving in the us army i was stationed near columbus georgia, and near fayetteville north carolina, near tacoma washington and in new york near the canadian border, then after retiring lived in san angelo west texas before my texan wife and i moved to wisconsin.
Each and every single one of them have distinct dialect of english each have very different cultural and historical backgrounds and each have thier own political identities each also have thier own biases... yes im an american but i am also a washingtonian and my wife a texan.
We are all americans as a whole but we are different regionaly. part of that is the way our nation was settled. in doing that we developed our own identity.

to get back on topic here ...

I finally recieved an email from Kobo support this morning, stating that the delay was due to the black wifi model being out of stock. I was asked would a silver or grey model be ok?

so maybe they are starting to catch up?

Hi Michael,

We are sorry for the delay in response. We have received a higher than normal volume of customer enquiries and have been working hard to respond to customers as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately we do not have any black eReaders in stock. Would she like a grey or silver replacement?

Sincerely,
The Kobo Team
