Recommend me an mp3 player

Well, for about the same price that I would pay for some of the mp3 players people have recommended I could get an Xperia Play phone (the one with Playstation game controller). What worries me about going down that route though is battery life. My current phone (Lobster) lasts about a week if I keep the phone part switched off and just use it as a radio/mp3 player, but only about a day if I switch on the phone signal. I would guess that wifi signals would also eat into battery life. But none of the reviews of that phone say whether you can switch all that stuff off or not when you just want to use it as a media player.

Yes, you can switch off that "stuff" on most quality smartphones. It's called "airplane mode" or similar. Even while under airplane mode, the battery life of smartphones is abysmal when compared to dedicated mp3/video/multimedia players.

Have to second that. if you want many musical formats, excellent sound, drag and drop (no software program like itunes or sony needed)... etc..

My Cowon has 60 hours battery life...goes weeks before i recharge it.....

At least check their website out....ANY Cowon product will outdo many mp3 players....
