Just noticed it said this (see Blossom's print screen above, also on my page):

Your Kindle Screensaver Preferences
Edit your preferences on the styles of screensavers you wish to see on your Kindle with Special Offers (Emphasis mine)

Maybe it will be an addition to the KSOs in future? Maybe type of Ads shown or something.

I did not see that even though I read it several times. I blame PMS.

So it is a Special Offers thing.

Yeah, I recall seeing that on the FAQ page about Special Offers several weeks ago. I thought it was neat you could select preferences for screensavers. Kept it in the back of my mind for a future Kindle purchase.

I read right over that too. Not PMS in my case, probably OFS (Old Fart Syndrome).

Perhaps Amazon is requesting that advertisers submit a few different themes for all of their ads. then they could tag each theme and push those to our KSOs according to our preference. I suspect we would still get the ad from ACME whether we want it or not, but we might be able to get it in our preferred theme. Just a guess.

That is probably the case with the choices in ads. It makes sense. I got excited thinking the K4 and KT would have different screensavers at times. Sorry for the confusion folks.

It wouldn't surprise me if, once the pool of advertisers is deep enough, it does influence what ads you get. Showing an ad for diapers to someone who has opted to see fewer kid themed screensavers is probably not productive.

Yeah, definitely a SO thing. I only have a KSO registered to my account.

Not a new change for me though. I've had the Screensaver Preference section ever since I got my K3SO in July/August. I've checkmarked all, none, or some, and it hasn't made a difference in the screensavers, even though it was there for selection.

What a tease.
