i dont want to derail the thread but i have a love/hate relationship with keene. he has very cool concepts but the execution is lacking. his best novel is Terminal and is probably also his best written. hes a very capable writer, it just seems like much of his stuff is written under a tremendous deadline.

i'm considering starting an off-shoot "extreme"/small press horror thread, i just don't know how much interest there would be.

That might change now that he doesn't have a slavemaster demanding a new book every 6 months. Kill Whitey is my favourite of the ones I've read, but Terminal probably comes a close second. That was the one that made me think I might like crime books, which led to a few new writers making it onto my buy list.

Do it and find out. As long as they're not all things I'd need a second mortgage to read I'd be subscribing.

Tim Curran is a great, horribly underrated horror author in general. he's written everything from lovecraftian novels to horror westerns. his Dead Sea is an awesome, atmospheric novel involving the bermuda triangle. his novel Resurrection is "The Stand" of zombie novels. its almost 700 pages long but consistently good.

I picked this up, thanks for the recoomendation! It kind of reads like a bleaker game of Fallout 3/New Vegas only in the mid-west. I'm enjoying it so far!
