I used to read five or so at a time, but have slimmed down to two at a time.

Normally I read a book at a time. But when a book in a series I really love is released while I am reading something else I will skip to it before going back but I never read multiple books at the same time

I read multiple books at a time. I typically have a classic fiction, modern fiction and several non-fiction books in my current reads.

One at a time. If I want to start a new book before finishing the current one, I have to decide to cut bait on the old one.

One book at a time, but I tend to switch from one reader to another depending on where I'm going to be reading.

Well - you sound kind of normal to me:

Kindle: The sword of truth (Read each night before bed)
Viewsonic tablet: The Iron Druid (but I've not read any for a few weeks)
Car MP3 player: Garden of Beasts by Deaver
Gym MP3 player: The Eleventh Commandment by Archer

For the car I have "Carte Blanche" (the new James Bond book) in the visor for next.

I usually only have one going at a time that I'm actually reading. However, on my Nook Color, I may have another manual or other reference text open for work or something else.

2 readers, one book.

If I read two (or more) books concomitantly, my retention gets that much worse.

I only have one reader, but always have at least two or three books going on it.

Electronically I just read 1 or two at a time but looking around I also seem to have a few "analogue" books on the go a well.

It's pretty common for me to be reading 3 to 4 books at a time. Readers make it pretty simple to switch back and forth.

This thread made me step back and count. As of right now I am reading 5 books on 2 readers and 2 paper books. May run to Barnes tomorrow and end up with another one or two. In the last six weeks I have read around 35-36 books.

5-8 at a time on 1 reader.
8 is the limit of the Recently Read screen (used to be 32 with the original buggy FW ),
Unfortunately, the list is FIFO, not purged by oldest Last read
