If you want a red light, you might try stores which cater to amateur astronomers. They use red lights because they don't affect night vision so much.

To be honest I cannot imagine how you are can read with it. I think it would hurt your eyes. Be careful.

I know, considering I'm an amateur astronomer as well (and so is that lazy husband of mine!). Which was another reason why I gave that mighty bright. But the lights you see there often are too large or more torch-like.

What I remember from the old days, when I still lived at home, the red light in a dark room is much darker. I doubt that would give enough light to read by... That Mighty Bright gives a very nice beam. But I'd love a smaller one (without the white LED branch).

Me too. I use (for astronomy) a red-LED headband-light, which works very well for reading charts, etc. I've not tried using it with an eInk device, but I think it should work well.
